What is ConnectWise CPQ?

ConnectWise CPQ (formerly ConnectWise Sell, and Quosal) is the quote and proposal solution of the ConnectWise Suite. With ConnectWise Sell, users can create professional technology quotes and proposals that include rich product information, cover letters, and statements of work in minutes and automatically update their sales pipelines accordingly.

It's All About the Setup and Training!!

I am a PSA/CPQ consultant but for CPQ I do use it daily in training my client on how to set it up, use it and the proper process for sales hand-off etc.

I've seen CPQ, after I have set it up with clients, streamline their proposal processes and get all their proposals inside CPQ , saving them.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have been using Sell for years now, we have come off of QuoteWerks. We moved to Sell because Connectwise purchase sell several years ago and it also integrated into Quick Books. Sell front end and quoting system works fine and not a lot of issues, the backend purchasing side of things has been riddled with problems. Connectwise purchased sell from qual awhile back and then Connectwise got acquired, the support for this product is poor, Connectwise always to me has always been poor when coming to support for their product. They do have chat support that does get online quickly but chat does not do remote shadow support so things seem to take longer. If the chat can not fix the issue they open a support ticket, the response from their support is about 4 to 5 days if you badger them, first they send you an electronic mail that usually hits your spam, they hardly ever pick up the phone and call you directly. Connectwise provides help desk software, it's puzzling why their support is so poor.

  • Electronic Sign off is easy
  • The install support team was good

Cons

  • Support, Call back in the Same Day like your competitors DO
  • When asked to talk with a manager, have a manger call back
  • Hire more support to lower your response time

Return on Investment

  • Lots of waisted time creating support tickets with no response
  • My purchaser is so frustrated she had to take time off
  • Complaining to your representative really has no effect

  • Real-time product availability and pricing.
  • Visibility into customer activity.

Cons

  • Although it is integrated with managed, oftentimes the integration fails with API errors.
  • Error logging is not always helpful. Oftentimes the errors are two generic to make troubleshooting worthwhile.

Return on Investment

  • The ability to see Real Time pricing allows us to be very accurate with our costing.
  • Knowing when our clients have viewed their quotes allows us to be very proactive in following up with clients.
  • Having your quote history at your fingertips allows easy access to previous quotes and information.

  • The ability to create custom templates for different types of quotes/projects to quickly create quotes for clients.
  • The ability to get all the updated pricing from all our vendors without having to search the vendors website
  • The ability to sync Opportunities with Connectwise Manage and automatically create sales orders.

Cons

  • I would like to be able to see more Canadian vendors in the list of vendors.
  • The ability to change the order porter template should be easier.
  • It's difficult to search for older quotes created.

Return on Investment

  • It allows us to create quote templates to quickly create quotes for customers and save our employees a ton of time.
  • It allows us to get a digital signature for proof of purchase from all our clients.
  • The order porter lets us track when a quote is opened so we can reach out and get more sales.
