We use Codecademy from Skillsoft to develop our knowledge and skills in web design, web development, cybersecurity, and miscellaneous topics in data science. Our firm is delivering more digital content, compared to the prepandemic period, and none of us on the team received any formal training in information technology or coding. Codecademy from Skillsoft provides the resources for us to learn or improve skills necessary in a digital world - these resources are relevant, easily accessible, and effective.
Pros
The content is relevant to our projects, and therefore adds value to our goals.
The content is delivered in a way that is conducive to adult learning, e.g., chunked into bite-size amounts (not overwhelming), uses language that is easy to understand (no technical jargon), a good mix of didactic content and quizzes (the latter adds an element of interaction).
The user interface is logical and user-friendly.
Codecademy from Skillsoft makes it easy to track your progress, not only within a course, but also relative to your weekly target.
Cons
I would like to see more video content, including introductory videos (the latter tend to make the lessons feel more personal). Some people may learn better with videos, compared to text and images only.
Recommended reading lists may be helpful to those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the topics.
Likelihood to Recommend
Codecademy from Skillsoft is well suited to persons who wish to quickly acquire practical knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied to support their work or project. On the other hand, Codecademy from Skillsoft is probably not appropriate for those looking for a more theoretical approach to the subject matter.
Codecademy helps me to brush up on skills that I have not used in a while engineering wise. For instance, recently I was tasked with building a python script to automate some excel sheet tracking of certain emails that are received. Codecademy helped tremendously here to help me get started on the basic python fundamentals needed to approach this task
Pros
Provides a very user friendly UI allowing for almost anyone to intuitively use the platform without many or any hiccups
Uses well-sourced teaching techniques to reinforce learning like spaced repetition
Allows and encourages self-paced learning so the individual can go as or as slow as they need
Cons
Would be nice to have a wider array of deep dives into different topics instead of a breadth focused approach
The paid version is too expensive given the price its asking for
Needs more of a community in order to facilitate learning and allow users to ask questions and get timely responses to the problems they encounter
Likelihood to Recommend
If you need to brush up on some topics I think that's an excellent use case. However, if there is a need for deep learning into any topic I would probably recommend a another resource that would go more in depth because the platform is more intuitive from a as you go quick learning style

Codecademy is a fabulous way to learn to code in many different languages and various technical skills. It's used to learn new code languages and updating previous knowledge.
Pros
Real world exercises
contents grouped by language and subjects
great documentation
Cons
Usability issues on small screen usage
Sometimes there's a bug at the interpreter, so the exercise can be correct but it isn't exactly what the interpreter is waiting.
It needs more code languages and updates to some, like Angular
Likelihood to Recommend
It is best suited for someone that has at least some basics skills on programming, the learning curve in that scenario is very flat, it's easier for them, for a beginner is a little harder, but not that much, has to read documentation and see the examples the code previously built.
