We have call center folks utilizing it extensively. Using the virtual desktop they can access the software attached to their from anywhere and any machine.
Pros
- Ease of access from any desktop
- Easy for helpdesk to support
- Easy to push new software and updates to all user group through a single push
- Security in healthcare is very critical and addresses that very strongly
Cons
- Network Fileshare mapping where I have encountered some issues.
Likelihood to Recommend
In my opinion, since I have been using the VDI for a long time I think Citrix Virtual Apps Essentials is the leader. I see it is more suitable where you multiple shift and same space is being utilized by many people.
I don't see in case of software development VDI is much needed.
