The ideal wireless scenario with access points of low cost and high added value.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cisco SMB 150 Series Wireless Access Points were sized through a Site Survey and installed in select administrative buildings to create a reliable WLAN network for staff and patient use. It's a job that took almost three months to scale with the Site Survey, and then the company bought and installed it in the buildings. We have been using it for more than one year to access the internet using mobile devices, notebooks, and desktops with Wi-Fi bundle. The Wireless network arrived to create the mobility scenario and offer users access to the internet while waiting for their medical appointments at the clinics.

Pros

  • One of the benefits was creating a wireless network for employees and another for the company's patients.
  • The creation of the visitor network was very well thought out. We create an exclusive vlan separate from the internal network that provides internet to the patient at a reduced speed.
  • We use a physical controller, but this WAP150 Access Point can manage a clustered mini-network.
  • Works at gigabit speed using 802.11ac protocol.

Cons

  • I see that this model does not have the ability to mitigate strong interference at 2.4 GHz.
  • It is a model that does not serve auditors.

Most Important Features

  • Sustainable AP.
  • Economic AP.
  • AP with high gigabit thoughput rates.
  • Compact and indoor AP.
  • Ability to cluster with other hardware.
  • 11ac.
  • 1X.

Return on Investment

Compact access point, but very fast and reliable.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have been using some WAP150 access points in company branches for almost two years now. These are great value access points with Cisco quality and durability. Our scenario has a maximum of three per location and is enough to serve small branches. The WAP150 and other models we use in the company are managed remotely by Cisco FindIT Network Management software. These devices work in the 802.11ac wave protocol, which guarantees speeds of up to 1.2Gbps in the 5ghz radio frequency. It's ideal for small business scenarios and doesn't rely on a main controller because the access point can cluster up to four devices.

Pros

  • Compact access point with internal antennas and easy ceiling mounting.
  • They are reliable and fast access points that work on the 802.11ac wave protocol with speeds of up to 1.2gbps at 5ghz. But they also work at 2.4 GHz.
  • Allows you to create a cluster of up to 4 access points on site and thereby manage radio frequency, power, and other network resources.
  • Access points can be managed on management and monitoring platforms with Cisco FindIT Network Management.
  • Allows to be installation easily with ethernet network cable.

Cons

  • They are not ready for Wifi 6 - 802.11ax yet.

Most Important Features

  • It has a POE port and can be powered by a POE switch.
  • Create a cluster of up to four access points with up to 120 connected users per cluster.
  • They are fast with gibabit speed.
  • It can be managed by cluster or management software.
