We use the cameras as part of our physical security system. It works out great when using the dashboard and reviewing footage. We have about 18-24 branches where we are slowly working towards getting them all Meraki cameras. We have over 50 cameras as of now. It is a great product and easy to use.

Pros

The clarity and autofocus on the camera is great feature.
Being able to use the app to view live footage is great.
The installation of the camera is fairly easy.

Cons

Being able to move the lens remotely instead of physically doing it.
The MV52 comes with a mount difficult to install.

We are a Cisco distributor that sells the MV cameras, I use them in demonstration purposes. A Lot of the times, we like to push these products out not just as physical security but as an endpoint that also serves as an IOT device. IT's great when we demo them to showcase how it can solve security issues such as seeing the difference between a person and a video and having a single pane of glass for mangement with the cameras on the Meraki dashboard.

Pros

It uses AI for object detection as I talked about earlier, being able to detect people vs. cars...
Single pane of glass management in the Meraki Dashboard
Installation is as easy as plug and play
Searchable video insight for data such as motion or people detection

Cons

The cameras need a bigger PTZ range.
Needs to have external cloud backup in addition to the meraki dashboard like a One drive or your own NAS.
Multiple camera playback at the same time is limited

Having the ability to add on security cameras to your existing Meraki network and adding in IOT while you're doing this is really top notch. These cameras would be well suited for small businesses that require security footage that can be easily accessed, anywhere at anytime. For a larger organization or a company that needs more robust security, this would be less appropriate, like a Casino, this would not be suited for that type of enviroment.

Cisco Meraki MV provides clear recordings of events in every area of our building irrespective of light source, means even at night when we rely on office lights. The ease of use in browsing through time frames to find relevant even that we are after is amazingly quick. We use the Cisco Meraki MV for property monitoring. The cameras are easy to operate and give us many options for administering and managing them in the dashboard. However, as the cameras are quite expensive, I would like to have better video quality for some cameras and to be able to rotate the cameras from the dashboard. An online tool for planning how many cameras of which types I need for the right deployment would be great, something where I can upload plans and use them for sizing. Cisco Meraki smart cameras (MV range) are a very good fit for smaller sites where installing traditional IP cameras alongside an NVR is not efficient. Although the initial cost of an individual camera can seem high, when you factor in the infrastructure required for traditional setups, the Meraki MV is great value for sites with a handful of cameras. The onboard intelligence is an added bonus as it can potentially lead to faster event triggers than waiting for an NVR to process it. The hardware is robust and exceptionally easy to set up and install, with everything being done through the cloud hosted dashboard. Image quality is good and there are now cameras with increased frame rates so all requirements other than for PTZs are catered for. All in all a reliable quick to install and high quality solution.

Ideal for smaller sites with 1-5 cameras, though technically it can cope with hundreds, the price/performance ratio starts to tip more in favour of traditional IP cameras and NVRs. The outdoor models have excellent infrared illumination and you can see personal features on faces at night. There are also a huge range of plugins for things like number plate recognition that are easy to integrate.

I have used Cisco Meraki MV for specific unique business case which we were not able to provide specific storage for remote cameras. Cisco Meraki MV helped with on camera storage which can sync with cloud and view any time from anywhere which was really helpful for the security footage check and online views.
