We use the cameras as part of our physical security system. It works out great when using the dashboard and reviewing footage. We have about 18-24 branches where we are slowly working towards getting them all Meraki cameras. We have over 50 cameras as of now. It is a great product and easy to use.

Pros

  • The clarity and autofocus on the camera is great feature.
  • Being able to use the app to view live footage is great.
  • The installation of the camera is fairly easy.

Cons

  • Being able to move the lens remotely instead of physically doing it.
  • The MV52 comes with a mount difficult to install.

Return on Investment

  • Easy access for many users.
  • Easy to download footage
  • Viewing is very easy

Cisco Meraki Dashboard

Impressive Camera

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it along with the Meraki button at our front entrance to identify visitors. We have used both the activity zone as well as the button to trigger a recording. When a visitor presses the button, the camera will send a snapshot to email and text so we know a visitor is waiting in the lobby.

Pros

  • Motion detection with activity zones works well
  • Motion snapshots are stitched together into one image which is amazing
  • Works well with other sensors including the button and door sensor

Cons

  • More granular user controls would be nice for Meraki in general

Return on Investment

  • It saves us lots of time by monitoring our lobby for visitors
  • The camera is obvious so it acks as a deterrent to prevent security incidents
  • Firmware updates are easy which saves time

  • Hard to add it to the dashboard

Are you Smarter than an MV

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a Cisco distributor that sells the MV cameras, I use them in demonstration purposes. A Lot of the times, we like to push these products out not just as physical security but as an endpoint that also serves as an IOT device. IT's great when we demo them to showcase how it can solve security issues such as seeing the difference between a person and a video and having a single pane of glass for mangement with the cameras on the Meraki dashboard.

Pros

  • It uses AI for object detection as I talked about earlier, being able to detect people vs. cars...
  • Single pane of glass management in the Meraki Dashboard
  • Installation is as easy as plug and play
  • Searchable video insight for data such as motion or people detection

Cons

  • The cameras need a bigger PTZ range.
  • Needs to have external cloud backup in addition to the meraki dashboard like a One drive or your own NAS.
  • Multiple camera playback at the same time is limited

Return on Investment

  • Positive: Takes less time to review footage as the AI motion search allows for our customers to not have to wander through footage.
  • Positive: All in one software with the security cameras has let one of our customers increase their ROI but $10,000 annually as they no longer have to purchase separate monitoring software for security, it's all integrated.
  • If you're looking to save money out of the gate, this could technically be a negative impact as this solution does cost a little bit to get going with the cameras and the licenses, but they are multi year licenses (Which include support) that allow for you to incorporate your security for 3, 5 , 7 or 10 years into the future.

Cisco Meraki MV - the solution that works

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cisco Meraki MV provides clear recordings of events in every area of our building irrespective of light source, means even at night when we rely on office lights. The ease of use in browsing through time frames to find relevant even that we are after is amazingly quick. The interface is even easy to use that even our non tech staff member breeze through with minimal guidance. Highly recommended.

Pros

  • Clarity of video
  • Quality of data provided
  • Reliability

Cons

  • Data compression
  • More education on how to use complex features

Return on Investment

  • Bit on the expensive side
  • Value of service is good
