Cisco Duo is predominantly utilized by organizations to implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) across a wide array of access points, including corporate networks, VPNs, and various applications like Windows logons. Reviewers consistently deploy it to secure critical servers and sensitive business data, thereby preventing unauthorized access and enhancing overall security posture. In TrustRadius reviews, its effectiveness in providing robust MFA and its straightforward integration capabilities with existing systems, such as Active Directory, are frequently highlighted as core strengths.
Reviewers also note the product's positive impact on cost reduction, specifically by lowering cybersecurity insurance expenses and decreasing support requests. However, some reviewers suggest areas for improvement, including expanding its feature set to encompass functionalities like password management or integrated VPN support. Concerns were also raised regarding occasional login speed and reliability issues related to network connectivity, particularly for Mac devices. Despite these points, the overall sentiment indicates that Cisco Duo is a valuable tool for bolstering organizational security.

Duo has provided a necessary improvement to our security infrastructure by proving not only a 2 Factor Authentication option, but also a way to perform authentication features such as RADIUS and RBAC for our LDAP user base.
Duo is very important because of its closed source enablement, as well as its ability to tie into 2FA for other sites and services which allow it.
Pros
LDAP integration
2FA third party
User management
Cons
More support for third party apps
TAC ACS support
API support

Very well suited for transitioning Ms o365 from basic to 2fa. We used it for this.
Enhanced security for users and any data on your system or domain that requires logins.
Add an extra layer of security.
would be nice to see a standardized offsite offline method for 2fa logins
Duo Security is used for our Any Connect VPN and also our RDM service. The business problems it addresses are added security and clarification that the actual user is signing in to our network and using our resources. This app is utilized across the entire department for added security. Every morning each engineer has to use DUO to sign into the VPN.
Pros
Speed of authentication.
Push notifications.
6 digit code authentications.
Cons
Exiting and opening the app to get the push notification.
Reaction to pressing the app.
Having to open the app to complete the process.

Well suited when providing an extra aspect to authentication. When you sign up for the service you use your telephone number so you know it is you getting the push notification and authentication for RDM.
All employees use duo to secure the company network when remotely accessing it.

It works well to secure the system. It’s also works well because most people always have their cell phones vs a dongle key. It does not work well when I get kicked off abs I need to re enter the info. It’s not a huge deal but this tends to happen a few times a week.
Duo Security is being used across the whole organization to support two-factor authentication. It addresses our security problems and makes it easy for developers to access the internal tools and systems that they need to accomplish their jobs well, but without exposing our company to security risks from un-authorized access.
Pros
Seamless integration with push notifications
Security is top-notch
Integrates with SSO and other internal tools well
Cons
Could be faster with push notifications
Not sure about alarming from unauthorized access when many pushes are sent without verification.
No easy way to get around losing your device for Duo

Duo [Security] is well suited for providing 2-factor authentication that is far more secure than a phone number or text. It makes it easy to expose internal data/tools without worrying as much about compromise. At the same time, something like Duo [Security] is more user friendly than other alternatives like Google Authenticator because of the push notification features.
We use Cisco Multi-Factor Authentication for accessing almost everything throughout the organization. It is used for VPN authentication, accessing networks, accessing various company sensitive URLs, while changing passwords, etc., to name a few applications. It is also one of the PCI requirements to protect sensivite customer data. It adds an additional layer of security for accessing sensitive data.
Pros
It protects against hacking.
It protects against sharing login information.
It provides additional security for the whole organization.
Cons
It would be better if I could use it on different watches like Fitbit, etc.

Cisco Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo Security) is best suited if the URLs you are accessing have sensitive data and information. I don't think it is required to use it if the data is publicly available. It is also suited to protect the customer's data if you are dealing with customer's data. It will add confidence for the customers in your organization to store their data.
