We use Cisco Catalyst Switches throughout our enterprise. We use them as core and idf switches and they enable our team to provide the services expected throughout our campus.
Pros
We use them for routing and switching
Cons
The upgrade process has room for improvement
Likelihood to Recommend
These devices are well suited within our enterprise campus network. They are not as well suited for use in our DC network.
At the Raytheon hardware lab in Fullerton, we use Cisco Catalyst Switches across the board. This includes models ranging from the 2900 series up to the 5100 series.
Pros
High Availability and Redundancy (
Enterprise-Grade Network Segmentation (VLANs)
Cons
Software Bugs and IOS-XE Stability
Firmware Update Workflow
Likelihood to Recommend
High-Security Environments
Ideal for core, distribution, and access layers in large networks due to their high reliability
we utilize Catalyst switches throughout our network for all of our physical locations. They’re in climate controlled areas. We currently have over 150 Catalyst switches and cores to employed in our environment,
Pros
Layer 3 connectivity
Lability and expand ability
Ease of management
Layer 3 functionality and services
Cons

We use switches in all different departments and different buildings. We connect them all fiber and all go back to our core pretty much.
Pros
They're pretty fast connection. They're pretty simple to config and they're pretty reliable. We haven't bought much of them because they work great unless they run out alive. But other than that they're great. They don't break. Knock on wood.
Cons
We use them in our main building where we have to have 10 gigabyte network. So they're able to give us 10 gig connections to them and we were able to create a path out to the internet, so that was a great improvement for that purpose. And it's fast.
Likelihood to Recommend
They work great in our data center. They work great in the IDF closets where sometimes heat they maintain pretty good and I can't see much of a weakness, but unless they're fall out from our remote sites that we have to somehow. But no, they worked fine.

Core and Access Layer Distribution. They allow us to connect up all of our devices and build out an IT and OT network. They also allow us to use set up access points, do port based security and allow our users and machines to gain connectivity to the internet.
Pros
Switching
Security
Layer 2 and 3 access
Cons
Faster turn around time from ordering to receiving.
More inventory in stock
Likelihood to Recommend
They work great to build out a network to support all device types that need to connect to them
They address issues like the connectivity to end devices and lan extension modules.
There are few instances or situations in which they are not used.
Cisco Catalyst Switches provide unparalleled support and connectivity when used in situations where connectivity is paramount and wifi is unavailable.
Pros
Lan Extension
Client connectivity
environment connectivity
Cons
VXLan capability built in to basic models
Power utilization
ease of configuration
Likelihood to Recommend
Cisco Catalyst Switches are well suited for enterprise networks requiring high availability, high reliability, security and scalability, such as corporate campuses and data centers, and branch offices. They are ideal when VLAN segmentation, QOS, and network automation are needed. They are less appropriate in small businesses or SOHO environmentswith limited budgets and simpler needs.
