TrustRadius Insights for Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN are summaries of user sentiment data from TrustRadius reviews and, when necessary, third party data sources.
Pros
Template Configuration Simplifies Setup: Users have consistently praised the template-based configuration for its ability to streamline setup processes and ensure uniformity across their networks. They find it intuitive and efficient, saving time during initial deployment.
Optimized Network Performance: Many reviewers have emphasized the significance of the load-balancing feature between ISPs, which plays a crucial role in optimizing network performance and bolstering reliability. This feature is particularly valuable in dynamic network environments with varying traffic loads.
Unified Platform for Management: Customers highly appreciate centralized management as it effectively reduces complexity in network administration and offers a cohesive platform for configuration and monitoring tasks. The centralized approach enhances visibility and control over the entire network infrastructure.
I guess for the intent of it was just to centralize the management as the network scales. Like we used to just send out templates for things and now it's just an easier way to standardize everything across the board, whether they're local or remote.
Pros
I think it does pretty well of tying in multiple transports, allowing you to build a template and baseline for multiple, I guess lack of better term sites, so simplified deployments, stuff like that.
Cons
We're still trying to figure out how to make it work. Some issues that we were running into is just like the user interface. A good example is your configuration templates and deployment groups. Making a group for a specific thing. I'm not trying to get too much into specifics, but you would have a group for remote sites say that one remote site has some sort of requirement that a site, another site may not have a requirement, but if I make a CLI configuration change in that template, it applies to all the templates. So maybe something that didn't apply to that certain site. I don't need it deployed across all sites. So I think a really cool thing would be, if you have multiple devices in one group, maybe it would be good to, if I were able to select which sites would receive the change versus hey, I'm going to make a site that applies, make a change that applies to one site. I don't want to deploy to all sites or have that become part of the template. It was just the one case scenario.

We've used it for less than a year and I think we're still doing testing, so I don't know if I would go and say a 10 for recommendation yet. I just haven't seen it in action for a good period amount of time.

Used for connectivity between all of our locations, branches, data centers and cloud environments. We were able to remove expensive private line circuits, provide more bandwidth to our locations and reduce outages. We use this product at 60 offices, 2 data centers and 4 cloud environments.
We use it to control the overlay of our campus WAN. It allows us to cchange routes efficiently and dynamically for our brancch offices to load-balance effectivly to our application and edge datacenters.
Pros
Templating
Deployment
Overlay Routing
Cons
Alerting to 3rd Party platforms
Fix the delay of DIA fallback (such as MPLS to hub) in in dual-router sites. Currently there is a very long time for router 1 to understand router2 has lost its circuit and must reroute back to the overlay to the edge datacenter

Its well suited if you have the money honestly. It is not a cheap product by any means but can help you scale fast.

We implemented Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN about 2 years ago for our customer, the product support and technical expertise was great. Before deciding to go ahead with the Cisco solution, we tested many vendors and use cases and we found Cisco as the best overall option and more robust. We were able to migrate the customer WAN solution to utilize internet connectivity.
Pros
Supports complex solutions
Cons
Continue evolving with the new WAN and Fabric solutions
Likelihood to Recommend
Great support

We use it to interconnect our branches and steer traffic over the best path from one branch to another or from the branch to the headquarter. And also maximize our, I mean, not maximize, but have less expenses on the transport we use because some stuff it's cheaper to send over the internet. Others, it's cheaper to send over the MPLS and there lot the variations there. And this is where Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN is the one actually helps us out because some traffic also can be sent straight to the cloud and just do not use expensive circuits.
Pros
The initial setup and building the whole infrastructure. It's like this.
Cons
I would think app based routing and I think that is app based that would need more improving and more apps to be identified and actually to be able to make decisions based on those apps and those apps.

The best case, what I recommend to others and to clients to use is Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN one for is the case when you have a huge number of branches or small offices or remote offices, you name it. Even home offices, you have a large number and you want this whole infrastructure to be extremely easy to set up and also to have everything almost the same, not to have deviations from the standard configuration. This is the sweet spot for introducing Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN.

Our company have around 300 sites all around the world and still opening new ones. Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN help us to reduce cost of internet connection and uses bot lines at the same time. We also have connection with AWS and Azure.
Pros
"Load balancing" wan traffic
Maintaining configuration templates
Presenting WAN statistics
Cons
Config diff available from GUI
