Brightmove - A great ATS & Resume Database...but other options available with more flexible pricing.
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use Brightmove primarily as a company-wide resume database/repository. We obtained resumes from many sources throughout the year and need a central location to easily store them and search for particular skills and experiences when we have new position openings/requirements from our clients. Brightmove provides a very easy-to-use solution to load and parse resumes which then become very easy to categorize/classify and then search. Brightmove has a lot of functionality like Applicant Tracking and posting to industry job boards, which we have done a few times in the past, but we primarily use it for the resume database/repository features/functions.
Pros
- Parse and store resumes.
- Resume Classification/Categorization.
- Resume Search.
- Resume history and version control.
Cons
- The biggest issue we have now with Brightmove is the cost structure. For the narrow solution, we are looking for and using, their pricing tiers are not very flexible and increased somewhat dramatically recently.
- The general UI is a bit dated.
- The iOS app is pretty basic and at one point had issues keeping up with iOS updates.
Return on Investment
- Initially, Brightmove was very cost-effective. With three users, we were paying about $42.00 a month in 2018. Now in 2022, for 1 user we are paying $125 a user/a month.
- Brightmove definitely works well for us for a resume repository and allows us to have access to the data from nearly anywhere between the website and mobile app. We are very happy with this set of features and functionality. It makes storing and managing resumes much easier.
- Brightmove provided a nice solution for tracking and posting jobs to major job boards, but we just didn't end up using it enough, given our business model.
