We used Salsa Engage as our email and donation management system. This was tied to our CRM system.
Pros
Simple to set up
Easy to develop donation forms
Easy to develop emails
Cons
Limited design functionality
Reporting is not very robust
Properly linking to external databases is challenging
Importing data to properly group audiences is challenging
Likelihood to Recommend
For smaller organizations who don't have extensive data needs (i.e. not many audiences to segment) and who don't need robust reporting, this works great.

We use it for fundraising events - one of which is a skate-a-thon. They get pledges for skating. And we have sponsorships. It allows us to give skaters their own pages to get their pledges. This is the event I have supported for setting up the platform for 2 years.
Pros
Peer-to-peer pages.
Page design.
Cons
Some functionality is not obvious.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is very well suited in the peer-to-peer environment.
We use Salsa Engage to email our supporters and create actions for our programming events.
Pros
Integration with SalesForce
Easy-to-use interface
Technical support
Cons
SalesForce integration of new fields for synchronization
Supporter self-management of account (updating their own email)
Group management (no pictorial interface)
Likelihood to Recommend
Salsa Engage provides a robust interface to SalesForce--our primary CRM--allowing non-intervention synchronization to categorize supporters into groups for email communication. As we are only six months into our implementation, we have not found areas where it's not appropriate to use beyond nit-picky synchronization delays and smart group updates.
Salsa engage is our external marketing and engagement platform for our organization. We utilize the event planning functions through creating ticket and registration pages. Additionally, we utilize the mass emailing platform to update our donors on a regular basis. Salsa Engage has a responsive monitoring and tracking system following engagement, clicks, and overall action taken by readers of your email. This is extremely helpful in guiding us when we create new content. Prior to engage, we utilized a few different platforms for donation pages, events, and email marketing. Having these all in one location on one platform has streamlined our communications beyond what we thought possible. It has helped us to retain and attract current and new donors. When all of these functions are in one location, it helps reduce the chance of error in tracking donations or sales. This has increased donor trust and made financial tracking much easier. We pride ourself on transparency and we had to work hard at it before, thanks to Salsa Engage, we can utilize insights and disperse them directly to donors without a large time gap. Ticket sales increase as we give real-time updates on sales and demographics. We are thankful for the ability to more appropriately target our donors.
Pros
Low bounce rate
Customizable donation pages
Intuitive reporting
Cons
Translation from salsa engage into our CRM system
Could use more modern email templates
More restrictions regarding image upload. Currently, you can upload any size and insert it. The email will not send correctly but you do not receive an error message.

Salsa Engage specifically works with nonprofit organizations so its software solutions are not appropriate for businesses. We are a small to medium sized nonprofit and the software has worked wonders for us. I could see extremely large nonprofits having a hard time maintaining a "clean" database with this system as the communication from engage to our constituent management system could use improvement. This software is extremely valuable and should be considered for anyone currently juggling multiple platforms. Our greatest challenge was maintaining accuracy and constant contact with donors when you are working on 5 different avenues.
