We use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT as our fundraising CRM to track donations, manage relationships, organize events, and solicit donors. We are a small non-profit college with a little less than 40K constituent records.

Likelihood to Recommend
Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT has long been the gold standard when it comes to Donor CRMS so there are many benefits of working with a system that so many organizations use. Web view features make data easily accessible for fundraising staff however not all Database view functionally has been successfully moved over to the Web view. With Database view still functional as whole this isn't a big problem however, as they move to sunset Database view there is potential for Database Administrators to be left with system that has significant reduced functionality than it had in the past. This potential for long-term reduced functionality combined with their exponential price increase year over year significantly reduce the likelihood of me recommending Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT to a colleague.
We use Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT for a CRM for our donor database. This helps us track constituent information, gifts, and activities. We also use it for marketing purposes, using the email function to communicate with donors and set up automated workflows for new subscribers and new donors. The scope of our use of NXT is to help us track and build relationships with donors.
Pros
CRM database
Gift transactions
Queries
Cons
Automated workflows
Email marketing
Unable to duplicate events
Likelihood to Recommend
Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT may be best suited for a nonprofit organization that is well resourced - both in terms of budget and staffing. Users of NXT have to undergo lots of training to become expert users, and other staff rely on that one expert in the office. It is also very expensive compared to alternatives, so it is not well suited to smaller nonprofits.
We use it primarily as our donor database and CRM email tool. It helps us track engagements and commitments to and from donors. Like all tools, if you do most of your work on the front end, it really lifts you up on the back end. The prospecting and insights tools also help lead to fruitful conversations. If you maintain a clean database as well it pays off in dividends with accuracy and professionalism from your donor's perspective.
Pros
Querying
Prospecting
Grant tracking
Cons
Cost
Easier to navigate user training
Clearer communication regarding functional changes
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are going to use it as a donor database and prospecting tool it is well worth the higher cost compared to other Donor Management tools. But, if you are simply using it as a tracking tool for gift processing, it is probably more than what the average user would need.
We use Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge NXT platform for all of our donor management. From recording donations, to processing online donations and tracking event registrations
Pros
Detailed donation tracking
Reporting that is in depth and customizable
New product enhancements
Cons
Better customer support
Options for free trainings
Likelihood to Recommend
Raiser's Edge NXT is well suited for organizations that want to have a lot of options for tracking constituent giving. Unless an organization wants high level record keeping then Raiser's Edge NXT is probably not the best option
I mainly use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT for email creation and event coordination. It helps keep things organized when reaching out to constituents and attendees, making communication more efficient. It also makes tracking event participation and managing donor interactions a lot easier. For me, it's a useful tool for planning events and sending targeted emails to keep everyone engaged and informed.
Pros
Constituent profile management
Email Creation
Segmenting of options for event creation
Cons
Better social media integration
Better templates for email creation
Likelihood to Recommend
It's great for running an event and can track attendees and donations, making future engagement easier. It’s also helpful for constituent engagement through email and helps me see who’s staying involved and supporting the seminary. Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is powerful, but it works best alongside other tools for a well-rounded system.
We use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT as a CRM when it comes to gift tracking, logging, inputting, etc. We also use it to create, analyze, and show our online donation forms on our website. We use it for payment for some of our biggest fundraisers, and the complete cover function is great for those trying to save money on fees.
Pros
CRM
Online Donation Forms
Trainings
Support
Cons
Getting rid of 2 different views (database and web view)
Make registration forms as easy as programs like Canva or Jotform-we'd love to exclusively use Blackbaud but it lacks features for this
Partner with more companies for integrations
Likelihood to Recommend
It's best for non-profits rather than for-profits. CRMs like Salesforce often offer much more, but they are much more expensive, complicated to use, and do not offer good or even free trainings. Blackbaud is the best value pick, provides insightful trainings with qualified teachers, etc. Would recommend for non-profits who want to save money and get donations often enough to use a CRM.
We use Raiser's Edge NXT to manage and track individual donors and granting organizations for all our fundraising efforts. We track our grant application process, report on fundraising metrics, manage portfolios, track interactions, create dashboards, segment donors for customized solicitations, generate annual reports and giving reports, and generate data for merged receipts and acknowledgement letters.
Pros
Allows for very detailed and customized data fields for both constituents and individual gifts.
Both soft-credits and matching gift credit can be linked to the original gift, to allow for refined criteria in queries and reports.
Integrates smoothly with other platforms like Outlook and Double the Donation Match360 Pro.
The Knowledgebase resources have improved greatly in the past couple years.
Both the free and paid training materials are very useful and even as a power-user I always learn a new tip or trick.
Cons
Many of detailed gift fields are not yet available in the web view but are in development.
The web view gift batch entry is not yet as robust and user friendly as in database view.
Power-users need to be familiar with different names for the same fields if using both web view and database view.

Raiser's Edge NXT is adaptable to various types of fundraising organizations and I've used it at a higher education foundation and a youth non-profit. With a little creative thinking I've been able find ways to adapt and repurpose features to fit each organization. As with any fundraising CRM, it is dependent on how consistently and accurately the users do their part.
Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT has transformed the work of our development team. In our previous system, we were unable to properly track prospects and moves management activity. Now, we are able to provide transparency on the activity with prospects and run reports to show progress towards goals. The interface for fundraisers gives each of them a snapshot of their recent activity and connects them with items on which they need to act.
Pros
Running filtered lists based on gifts, opportunities, etc.
Ability to adjust view of constituent record to suit each user
Cons
Moving full database functionality to web view
Having all data points available for filtered lists
Generating reports in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is difficult
Likelihood to Recommend
Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is a valuable CRM for developing a moves management program. The system is easy to use and allows for transparency in prospect activity for all fundraisers. The system keeps tasks that are due for action visible and makes it easy to follow up. For community foundations, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is not suited for showing activity in specific funds. The activity of donors that have funds with us is a vital part of the moves management process.
We use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT as a central location for cross-departmental record keeping, reporting, and communication relating to marketing, donations, and donor engagement. Data is recorded from fundraiser interactions and gifts, and then used by marketing, executive, and fundraising staff for strategy, marketing appeals, and reporting, as well as for financial recordkeeping. Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT helps us break down silos between departments, preserve engagement history across staff turnover, maintain accurate records, and also to use that information to follow up with a multifaceted communications strategy. In addition, while Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT maintains a simplified UI compared to a full SQL CRM database that requires less training than those programs, it also has enough customization for organization specific needs using customizable fields and queries. For example, my org is able to use custom fields on action records to track the languages that people order books in, allowing us to easily follow up when new books in that language are translated and published.
Pros
Inter-departmental communication
Recordkeeping
Data Analysis
Fundraiser portfolios
Customizable fields and tables
User-friendly UI - requires minimal coding
CRM database
Gift batch entry tools are efficient
Query allows for highly customizable reporting and tracking
Canned reports with good customizability
Flexible and customizable exporting tools
Low Code
Compatibility with FENXT
Map tools in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT Web View Lists allow for easy regional searches
Several powerful tools for changing large numbers of records at once (Global add, global change, and import)
Mailing list generation
Duplicate management and data cleaning tools
Cons
Almost everything in web view
Web View Search - can only search by name OR address OR constituent ID #
Web View e-mail - restrictive limits on email lists
No social media functionality
Limited filters available in Web View Lists
Limited customizability in Web View Donation Forms
Limited customizability in Web View
Missing key data fields in Web View constituent entry
Web view gift entry has inefficient batch entry tools
Web view reporting tools lack customizability
Web view requires training in Microsoft Power Automate to have equivalent functionality to what already exists in Database View
Web view mobile page formatted poorly (especially Lists and Query)
Query is often incompatible with web view features
PDF receipts have to be downloaded individually
Web View Search - no wild card search
Web View Search - unable to display over approx. 250 records with similar names
Web View Search - limited ability to filter results
Web View Search - only searches for constituent records, not action, appeal, fund, campaign, etc.
Workflow Designer is limited by inability to easily refresh workflows, have multiple branches in a workflow.
Web view report builder is unintuitive, requires paid add-on to partially replicate what Query can do
Likelihood to Recommend
Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is good for a medium sized organization who needs a central piece of software for communication and recordkeeping between office staff, executive staff, and fundraising staff. Front-line staff can record their interactions with constituents, which can be used for analysis and marketing by office staff, and in future fundraising efforts. Executive, fundraising, marketing, and accounting staff can have detailed reports on giving relevant to their specific work. And information can be communicated back to front-line staff by other departments and referenced as needed. Little coding ability is needed, security allows for staff to be limited to the features they need, and customizability means that most needs can be accounted for. Larger organizations might consider whether more robust software requiring more training might meet their needs better, and smaller organizations will likely need to look for something in their budget range. Prospective adopters should note that while web view has been out for a while, it has incomplete and limited functionality. Complete functionality only exists in database view, which is old. Database view functionality is being transferred to web view throughout 2025 - consider whether waiting to evaluate the new functionality first is prudent.
Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is an extension of our database. We use it to store donor date, manage event, donation pages, log appeals, track funds, and we use it for reporting. The reporting future is very helpful for dashboards. We use the Campaign Dashboard, actions by fundraiser dashboard, opportunities dashboard and many others. The Fundraiser workcenter is really helpful for fundraisers to manage their prospects and solicitations.
Pros
store donor data
Dashboards
Cons
I wish there was capabilities to have exports in RENXT. Querries are nice but deffinetely would be better to have both querries and exports.
I wish things between RENXT and RE database were more synonomous . The different wording for the same thing can be confusing (example: Proposals vs Opportunities)

I like the donation pages that are easy to creat and easy to embed in our website or into emails. It is also great for list creation as well as a quick look up of a prospect. I would also say it is great for data health specifically around identifing potential duplicate records as well as making the merge records cpabilities very easy and user friendly.
