Bitdefender - The answer to all our nightmares!

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have around 120 endpoints (mostly Windows - but a few MACs) - We moved to Bitdefender after using a Russian AV-based company due to concerns. We are using the full suite offered by GravityZone, which has been far less intrusive and resource-hungry than the previous solution. We have now even added MDR as a package. We like the flexibility to be able to bolt on add-ons and the support offered to integrate these add-ons as and when needed.

Pros

  • Threat Monitoring.
  • Patch management.
  • Real time alerting of any potential issues.
  • Great Support.

Cons

  • Sometimes finding more detail on the console about an event can be a bit harder than you would expect.
  • The homepage doesnt let you drill down by clicking on the overview graphics - it would be a nice feature for easy troubleshooting.

Likelihood to Recommend

Bitdefender had been a great replacement for our previous product - it was painless to make the switch with very few issues. We tested in a VM lab a few different offerings, but Bitdefender was the one that covered everything we required at the time and allowed us to be able to expand the offering simply.

Bitdefender GravityZone, our first line of protection against malware

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bitdefender GravityZone as our central anti-malware solution across the complete company, this is in our headquarters and in all our subsidiaries across Europe. We use it on all our endpoints (workstations of our users) and on our servers in all our data-centers. In this way, it helps to protect us against malicious software.

Pros

  • Protect against viruses
  • Protect against ransomware
  • Central management

Likelihood to Recommend

With over 100 workstations (including laptop for road warriors) and +100 servers, it is very nice that the product Bitdefender GravityZone is very easy to manage using the online central management console, where you can set every detail of the different components of the product. Also, the reports you can use are clear and very helpful.

It Just Works: Great option for a small business

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bitdefender GravityZone company-wide on all company computers/networks and a couple of remote workers. It allows us to manage and be proactive with our employees to keep us operational. From 1 location I can check company-wide security on all of the computers. If needed, we can give additional rights to specific computers such as allowing them to be able to turn off the protection for testing other apps, etc.

Pros

  • Runs in the background without slowing our computers.
  • Reliability: It just works.
  • Smooth roll out and installations

Cons

  • Tech support is difficult to reach/communicate with.
  • Tech documents are written for tech professionals.
  • User interface also written for tech professionals.

Likelihood to Recommend

When you need to be able to monitor the anti-virus/malware situation on all computers including remote systems and do not want users to have the ability to change or modify these settings, GravityZone is perfect for this. Certainly focused on IT professionals, so the learning curve can be a bit difficult to figure out.

Major time saver.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bitdefender GravityZone to simplify deployment and management to one of our remote departments. We need it to make the status of the protection more visible and more configurable. We remotely manage all their VMs, hosts and desktops and we are happy with the ability to feel like the site is secure and we have the tools we need to ensure protection.

Pros

  • Provides central reporting for groups of computers
  • Centralized security policies ensure that the system is lower maintenance
  • Reporting and auditing makes operations very easy

Cons

  • Cost is high and makes it hard to sell, it would be nice if it was the same cost per user rather than per device, as most users have multiple devices, so the price is a moving target, this makes sales hard.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's a centralized deployment and reporting AV that supports almost all platforms and clients, makes management very easy.

Bitdefender GravityZone pulled me in and now I'm happily stuck with it.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bitdefender GravityZone as our primary antivirus software for our entire network.

Pros

  • Bitdefender uses far fewer resources on the client computers than several other antivirus programs I have used.
  • The web portal is pretty easy to use and gives a good amount of information in regards to the health of the computers.

Cons

  • There are periodically times which Windows thinks no antivirus or firewall is active on a computer, even when Bitdefender is there.

Likelihood to Recommend

Bitdefender GravityZone is well suited for businesses which want to have an easy to use web-based interface.

I'm not sure if highly regulated companies (medical practices, government, etc.) would be able to use the standard setup of Bitdefender GravityZone.

Bitdefender - defends all my computer's bits!

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GravityZone is used for personal computer protection as an anti-virus software. It helps ensure protection against attacks to personal information. It also helps get data more secure on a desktop/laptop and scans incoming threats and or reviews content before launching to help protect your PC and information. Also has automatic regular updates so no need to ensure you are protected.

Pros

  • Updates regularly to ensure you are protected
  • Flags any malware or unexpected downloads etc
  • Protects personal information

Cons

  • Slows down computer
  • Doesn't learn which items are safe so you have to "ok" similar items more than once
  • Sometimes stops working and you have to refresh or reboot

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for personal use and remote installation update so no need for tech support to have the latest functionality. States that is has strong machine learning but I haven't found that when using I had to reauthorize items more than once (e.g. safe sites). Shares the items blocks or attacks made to improve your awareness on attacks. It is not free and there are comparable free tools out there in my opinion.

Bitdefender GravityZone is a SysAdmin's Dream Come True

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bitdefender on all workstations and servers. It solves our need to protect our systems from malware and from malware-infected sites. It scans any device connected to the computer when inserted, so that USB drives, DVD drives, and other external sources can't contaminate the computer. Bitdefender is an easy-to-install, easy to maintain, and easy to update anti-malware solution--no matter how large or how small your system footprint is. The GravityZone product is cloud-based, which means that I can get a handle on installations, infections, and settings no matter where I am or what time of day it is. The cloud-based solution is somewhat different than the on-premise version, but for budget-minded companies, the cloud version (GravityZone) works very well.

Pros

  • Bitdefender automatically updates without any user intervention. Updates happen in the background and a reboot is not required--at least in two years it hasn't been.
  • I schedule Bitdefender to perform full scans on systems every Friday. I've never had a user complain about a system that is slow because of the full scan.
  • I like that we can manage Bitdefender actions and features from the website. For example, I can place systems in different groups or profiles to enable or disable different features.
  • I also like that Bitdefender has its own built-in firewall. It's very restrictive and logs every action against it.

Cons

  • I wish we could access logs from the cloud-based product. Not just in a viewable sense but from a download so that we can scrape them for interesting strings.
  • Bitdefender needs to make it easier to export data from the web interface. As it stands now, it's a time-consuming copy and paste activity.
  • I would like for there to a notification service when someone encounters malware. For example, an email to our IT team when someone's Bitdefender quarantines a file.

Likelihood to Recommend

Bitdefender just works. Apple people should love it. It covers all the bases: Workstations, Servers, Macs, Linux, and Windows. It is good for any IT person or group who wants excellent malware protection but doesn't have a lot of time to deal with user complaints, BSODs, and other issues frequently encountered with other anti-malware software. Bitdefender, in my opinion, is good for any size company or business that needs anti-malware software that is easy to use and to maintain.
