My organization uses BerniePortal as the central hub for all employee benefits selection and documentation. Employees can make their plan choices on the portal during enrollment, and can view their current plans and past elections at any point.
Pros
- Easy to compare current and past elections
- Centralizes all the documents relevant to benefit plans
- Site layout is minimal and easy to navigate
Cons
- Add the ability to check whether you're in an enrollment period or if not, when the next one is
- The only time it is possible to compare plans and costs is during an enrollment period. It would be great to have a feature to allow this comparison at other points in the year
Likelihood to Recommend
BerniePortal is well suited to benefits elections and as a resource for general plan documentation. During the enrollment period, it has helpful features to allow you to compare plans against your current one and calculate the costs. The portal also provides an itemized summary of your election costs and the ability to change beneficiaries. All of this is in a site that, while sparse, is easy to navigate and understand. However, outside of the enrollment cycle, BerniePortal's uses are fairly limited - at least within the scope of employee benefits.
