Downtime and production tracking with AVEVA
Rating: 8 out of 10
IncentivizedUse Cases and Deployment Scope
AVEVA Manufacturing Execution, powered by Ampla, was first introduced to track and analyze the processing plant downtime and operational KPIs. So far, it has been used by plant operational staff, metallurgists, and the maintenance team to track plant performance in terms of production and reliability. We have recently upgraded to track the product quantity and grades across our entire business, giving end-to-end visibility of our production. This also allows unified reporting and data validation.
Pros
- Downtime tracking and classification
- Metrics/KPI calculation
- Simplicity of use
Cons
- Data visualization and analysis--the built-in UI could be more fully featured
- Integration to external analysis tools and dashboards
- General UI and usability; a web interface is definitely needed
Likelihood to Recommend
For downtime tracking, the process is well suited to tracking the operation of an entire process or plant; it is not suited to tracking individual equipment reliability. For inventory management, it is suited to tracking either bulk or discrete production, as its concepts are quite general.
The Metrics engine is suited to smaller deployments; larger deployments would do better to extract and warehouse the raw data for external analysis and reporting.
