Use Cases and Deployment Scope

During my work, Avanan found and removed each and every malware threat from my system. As the engine is cloud-based, all analytics run on the cloud server and do not use any processing on our devices. It caused virtually no impact on any of my Windows and Mac laptops, even during intensive scans of the entire drive.

Pros

Simple interface and a secure Firewall.
Easy to use password manager.
Good protection of the webcam.
VPN (with unlimited data).
Cloud storage.
Ransomware protection.

Cons

Difficulty regarding Mac optimization and cleanup tools.
Advanced backups on Mac are quite time consuming.

We can perform custom scans of specific parts of our computer, such as scripts, networks, boot sectors, and even new/changed files. Advanced settings make it one of the most powerful and customizable anti-malware scanning engines on the market. However, it is not just an antimalware scanner, it is one of the most complete security suites on the market, and it offers us the best protection for both our computers and our mobiles.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Ease of use - [Avanan] protects the enterprise very well by flagging all email that seems like a scam/virus. Price is excellent - Way better than the competitors which are not even near Avanan -Sometimes, it's not easy to find why the email has been blocked.

The login page has some bug that needs to be improved
Sometime it's not easy to find why a particular email has been blocked
Some legitimate emails are still blocked by Avanan, even after establishing rules

Avanan works really well against spam, viruses, etc. We receive over 100 emails every day that is spam/scam but our users are way more protected and feel more confident with Avanan. It has some diffuclties when legitimate emails come from domains that don't send a lot of emails. But it's okay, at least we are protected.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Avanan as our company Email protection. It is implemented for our internal email gateway as well as our URL defense. We plan on expanding the Avanan footprint to our external gateway to help with our DMARC solution. Avanan provides top-end quality with a good price point. We switched from our previous provider who gave us the same protections but cost significantly more.

Spam protection has been fantastic for our company so far. We deal with a lot of external vendors and need the ability to accurately mark spam as false positive or not and Avanan has been very easy to accomplish that. Somewhere they could increase their usability is in the customized banners portion.

The price of the product delivers great spam protection. It might not have as many features as its competitors but it does everything we need it for a 1/3 of the price. The recent acquisition I see as a positive as they will have access to more resources to help improve the product even more.

For the price, there isn't much out there that can compete unless you are paying an arm and a leg for it. We were really only focused on the money but the other products did the same stuff and made the same promises for 3x the cost. We are getting amazing files for the price.

We use this product for spam and phishing filtering across the organization. The program does exactly what it says and more. I have used it for searching for specific emails as well as searching for mass emails that may have been caught as spam that should have gone to the organization. It is by far easier to use than Microsoft's built in Spam filtering product.

Sometimes after logging in, it will bring you to a page where you need to log off and back on again to work

I would say that the best thing besides the filtering is the mail search function. I use it for that the most in manual searches. Since I work with mail every day, I get some users that say that they didn't receive some mail that they were waiting for. I can just open up Avanan and search in there. Since it is directly connected to Office 365, you know whether the mail was received by Microsoft or not.

Avanan removes phishing emails from ever getting to your users. I was skeptical until we installed it. My users were getting many phishing attempts per day. Configuring Avanan stopped that completely.

Monitors Office 365 logins from other countries
Allows for easy false positive remediation

Cons

It seems their mobile website is lacking. Not everything fits on the page.
[I] can't think of anything else. It is really that good.

Avanan is well suited for companies that either get a lot of spam/phishing emails or have a lot of untrained users who cannot easily spot email scams.

It is being used across the whole organization to provide phishing and malware protection for Microsoft 365. It protects against phishing attacks and provides a quick and easy way to pull unwanted messages from user mailboxes.

Pros

It is very effective at quarantining malicious emails.
It has a relatively low rate of false positives.
It allows for quick removal of unwanted messages from multiple mailboxes.
It provides valuable and detailed data on the characteristics of messages and sender reputation.

Cons

Would like to see cooperation with Microsoft that would allow Microsoft's defenses to be disabled or bypassed in order to use Avanan's defenses exclusively.

Likelihood to Recommend

Avanan is extremely effective at blocking phishing messages. It has a good solution for pulling unwanted messages from multiple mailboxes. It is hidden from the Internet and not a target for threat actors spoofing quarantine notices.
It is more effective but also more expensive than Microsoft's native defenses. For us, it is worth the extra expense to protect against potential compromises by threat actors.

Avanan is being used across the whole organization and we are using it for email protection and spam filtering. It provides us with a reliable service that gives us peace of mind when it comes to spam and phishing emails. I also enjoy their customer service, as they are excellent and quick to respond.

They are also an excellent service because emails still send perfectly even if Avanan services are down. Other products can't do this, so this is why I chose Avanan.

It's reliable and it's used across our whole organization to protect us from phishing and malware emails, this helps us keep our organization and data secure thus work in harmony and grow our portfolio. Avanan helps us avoid the business problem of being the target of phishing emails with intent of harming our organizational integrity.

It's invisible and this enhances its integrity where it remains undetected and offers 24/7 protection.
Blocks both internal and external attacks thus keeping our data secure 24/7.
It's created for use across all board and in all organizations making it reliable.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company was using another email gateway product, which was placed before o365 gateway. We replaced it with Avanan, this comes after o365 gateway. Meaning there is a Microsoft ATP protection first and followed by Avanan. Avanan also has re-writing of links. Any other gateway in market has its on header and when a link is hovered in the email then that header makes it difficult to read for any user. Avanan allows rewriting of links wherein whenever a user hover over the link then the exact link is being shown. Support is world wide, we have office in EMEA region and also in asian countries therefore a global support is must for an organization like ours. Now, if the technical lead will put the support request then it is answered immediately. Number of issues we had been logging in have reduced, administrative results were noticeable and outstanding. Difference can be noticed. Work of Security team and administration team has really reduced. Avanan know the difference between spam and phishing, we can write or choose different rules of action for a spam or for a phishing email. Group policy can be different for different region. IT team or IT admin are not required for taking actions, user can take action by themselves
