Since we had a small BU with different domains, those working remotely with Covid in place and teams using various collaboration tools from different locations were a significant threat to us and the organization within. We thought of hosting these new emails on Avanan as it was helping us to stop threats even before they could hit the inboxes of these users. This turned out to be a great solution for us and the team. Also, the team is satisfied. The API-based ecosystem is robust and is backed by strong checkpoints within the security domain.

Pros

Protection from threats before reaching the inbox and protection from external threats
Regularly helps from phishing attacks
Helps to set up policies across domains on emails with granularity

Cons

They should introduce a mobile phone app that suffices the prevention from threats.
They still haven't implemented the ability to simply block by TLD extension.
UI/UX has room to improve and can be made more friendly.

Best suited for domains or hosts where you would want first-level filtration or prevention from hitting onto the email boxes and domains. All the protection against unknown addresses, phishing activities, and URL filtering is a good use case.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My client met many problems with email spam, malwares and data leakage. With Avanan, their email service has the highest security level which include threat detection intelligence feature. It allows to create granular policies to check incoming emails whether exists malware or not? has spam signs or not? and apply appropriate actions. Besides, Avanan can integrate with Office 365 to prevent data loss on OneDrive from sharing sensitive document to outsite and prevent internal users sending email containing unauthorized contents.

Nowadays, digital transformation is everywhere. Using cloud services is very common. Many organizations use SaaS like Office 365 or G-Suite. Storing data on cloud, sharing the data to outside are very often. With normal users, forget old data or forget shared data after projects, topic disscussion and so on,... are unavoidable. Using Avanan helps to discover and detect which data is sharing and which in them is sensitive need to be stop sharing. If don't have a solution like Avanan, it will be very difficult to control data leakage.
For scenarios where it is less appropriate, I think AI needs to be trained better to minimize false positive.

We used this Avanan checkpoint tool to validate its functionality and email protection and to be able to compare it against other security tools on the market, it really is good, it was better than expected. With the acquisition of this tool, checkpoint manages to have a great first-line security coverage worldwide. It really is a very complete tool.

Pros

A very important feature is that it protects all the collaborative tools of the mail solution, such as office 365.
It has protection against ransonware.
An easy tool to implement.

Cons

I would like to find more documentation to implement and learn about the tool without the need to do a trial.
I would also like to be integrated into the infinity checkpoint portal.
They should pay attention to improving the level of support.

Its ease of implementation is perfect for companies with small IT departments that use tools with full security power and little administration. For our company, privacy and data protection are major concerns. So this was found to be a good fit. The integration process is also pretty easy.

This is a great product and very easy to implement and use. The dashboard is easy to follow and not overwhelming with too much information. You do have the option to drill down to more info which is great. I also like the new feature that was recently released, secure click. This feature tests any embedded hyperlinks and ensures they are saved to click. Great product and very useful.

I use Avanan for its security purposes, it assists in helping our IT team protect all the databases in the company. Recently, the company had a lot of hacker attacks, phishing, etc. The user interface is much better in comparison to other brands out in the market. The initial deployment was very easy and user-friendly. Overall, a great system that helps businesses protect from common malware, scams, phishing attacks, etc.

It can sometimes block emails that are not phishing attempts or do not appear to be initially.

Avanan is advanced email security that protects from any kind of cyber attack. It's directly integrated into Outlook and blocks any kind of phishing and spam emails. It detects spam emails very effectively and reduces the risk of data leakage. It also offers very great data loss protection functionalities. It reports the threats to the system admin and sends immediate alerts. It offers protection to Office 365 apps as well.

It also offers data loss protection functionalities and works well as intended. However, the UI seems outdated and should be modernized. The UI lags sometimes.

Avanan Email security has been used as supplemental protection for internal network security. It is used throughout our region to protect all employee e-mails from external attacks by hackers, worms, viruses, trojans, ransomware and phishing. It has integrated great resources, performance and security to internal data. The integration and protection of the Office 365 environment is excellent and has mitigated 100% of attack attempts.

Ease of use - [Avanan] protects the enterprise very well by flagging all email that seems like a scam/virus. Price is excellent - Way better than the competitors which are not even near Avanan -Sometimes, it's not easy to find why the email has been blocked.

The login page has some bug that needs to be improved
Sometime it's not easy to find why a particular email has been blocked
Some legitimate emails are still blocked by Avanan, even after establishing rules

Avanan works really well against spam, viruses, etc. We receive over 100 emails every day that is spam/scam but our users are way more protected and feel more confident with Avanan. It has some diffuclties when legitimate emails come from domains that don't send a lot of emails. But it's okay, at least we are protected.

Avanan is an end-to-end security provider for emails, phishing attacks, spam attacks, ransomware, and unwanted link within emails and google docs. Avanan provides extra security layer protection over the existing security layer of email provider which is Microsoft Office 365 in our case. overall the best email protection suite to save from all threats and attacks.

Avanan is best suited for end-to-end email protection either spam, spoofing, phishing, breach detection or links detection. the best part is post-delivery action and protection and true AI-based API protection and its easy setup within minutes. it's less appropriate when there is less need for a second layer of security protection over existing protection by email providers. but, it is worth using and can save from any attacks through email.
