Scrum and Agile Methodologies

We use the tool throughout the whole process of a sprint - for planning, daylies, updating and documenting our tasks, creating bug tickets, refinements, reviews.

Please provide some detailed examples of areas where Atlassian Jira has room for improvement.

From 30 reviews | Last Published May 26, 2026

Reviews of Atlassian Jira frequently highlight several areas where the product could be improved, primarily centered around user experience, flexibility, and system performance. The most prominent concern, cited by 43% of reviewers, is the User Interface and overall Usability, which many find overwhelming or clunky, especially for new users. This sentiment often intertwines with feedback on the complexity of Customization and Configuration, which 27% of reviewers noted can be tricky and overwhelming for less experienced administrators. Beyond the initial learning curve and setup, 13% of reviewers also raised concerns about Performance and Speed, particularly when dealing with large volumes of data. Further compounding the learning curve, the specialized query language, JQL, and filtering capabilities are considered challenging for non-technical users by 10% of the sample. These observations collectively suggest a need for a more streamlined, intuitive, and performant experience, particularly for new users and those managing complex configurations.

Customization and Configuration

More control over the organization's email notification system would be helpful. With this control, we could reduce and customize the irrelevant update emails and get notified only about important updates.

Performance and Speed

Our Engineering teams occasionally deal with delays when filtering large backlogs of issues. Jira could work on improving this.

JQL and Filtering

I have observed that non-technical teams/team members often struggle with JQL queries when creating dashboards, etc. A simplified filter tool would be helpful.
