What is Altair HyperWorks?

HyperWorks is a platform that provides workflows that use domain knowledge and increase product development team productivity. Engineers can move from physics to physics, domain to domain, and even create reports without ever leaving their model. HyperWorks can be used to reate designs that accurately model structures, mechanisms, fluids, electromagnetics, electrical, embedded software, systems design and manufacturing processes. Altair Unlimited boxes up software, system administration, and infrastructure as a service into a single, intuitive platform.

Very handy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I like the new interface; the icons are very understandable and useful. And we don't need to continuously press the ctrl button on the keyboard while panning and turning the geometry. I'm cleaning geometries and meshing them quickly, which needs analysis and running smoothly. HyperWorks made my work easier and faster. For meshing, we are using it in our department all the time.

Pros

  • Taking midsurfaces much better
  • Meshing is more easy
  • Recreating and building meshes good
  • Sketch tools is not bad

Cons

  • Extend surfaces need to improve
  • Some skills are not working well sometimes like patch, cross extend

Most Important Features

  • Quality of meshes

Return on Investment

  • Analysis

Altair HyperWorks - Powerful and Efficient Simulation Solutions

Pros

  • All-inclusive software suite
  • Wide breadth of capabilities and custom scripting
  • Highly efficient and scalable solvers/computation

Cons

  • User interface is improving, but not always intuitive; varies across tools
  • Steep learning curve
  • Cost may be out of reach for some, but relatively inexpensive if you need all the tools it includes (vs. paying for each tool individually)

Most Important Features

  • Broad range of applications
  • Powerful and efficient solvers
  • Highly capable solutions with more versatility than competitors
  • Powerful optimization schemes

Return on Investment

  • An all in one solution keeps costs down if you need multiple analysis capabilities (FEA, CFD, MBD, etc.)
  • Analysis work supports our other engineering/design work we wouldn't otherwise receive
  • Fast and efficient solvers leads to higher throughput
