Adobe Substance 3D Collection Reviews & Insights

We use Adobe Substance 3D to create and improve our textures. We then integrate the exported files with Blender and Unreal Engine. Adobe Substance 3D has been great since the start, it's easy to use, reliable, and it just works. We have been using it a lot lately with the new features they introduced after being acquired by Adobe. They are integrating it into the Adobe Suite, with more updates on the way!

It's great if you don't want to mess around trying fixes or subpar software. Adobe Substance 3D is the default, and it just works when you need it. From textures to complex materials, it gets the job done with no worries. It's really good for new users, because the new UI features they implemented simplify the software a lot, and the learning curve is gentle. It is well suited for game development, renders, and top-notch material creation. One of the main features we use is the creation of dynamic materials that have different colors on the edges. This is useful because it adds a lot of realism, for example, in metals.

In general we use Adobe Substance 3D Collection for various use cases. Like the painter helps us to create realistic pbr materials for our products and also helps us to save them as library and save time for further projects. The stager helps in preparing style frames for videography and visual frames catered specially for the client. Although its a rare use but the designer helps sometimes to create textures and materials from scratch

Big and mid-sized firms can really leverage the flexibility and value using the different tools all available at one place in the collection and also the integration with Adobe apps like photoshop, really makes it a seamless experience especially in fast paced production environments like advertising. For many film and game studios the whole collection might not be that much helpful as only painter will be of much use. For the small and indie studio it might be a costlier option and they can consider similar free or cheaper alternatives.
