We have integrated ActivTrak into our remote workers program to ensure that they stay on track and within the required parameters for their tasks. It has enabled us to keep up with their tasks as they are being worked on and to ensure that they are working during the times that they have claimed.
Pros
Accurate timestamps.
Great screenshots.
Ease of use.
Cons
Have not found any really.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is ideal for remote workers and in use cases where a team needs to stay connected across different locations. I don't think it's necessary for in-house employees who are easily accessible.

Manager in Information Technology (Mechanical Or Industrial Engineering company, 201-500 employees)
We use ActivTrak as an employee monitoring solution. It keeps management focused on employee time and productivity level. ActivTrak's URL blocking feature is a game changer. It allows us to whitelist or blacklist sites based on computer groups. Ever since we started using ActivTrak, employee productivity level has more than tripled. No more wasted time and resources on staff being distracted on social media, etc.
Pros
Blacklist URLs.
Show desktop activity screenshots.
Show top websites being visited.
Give a pulse view of the organization's activity.
Cons
The dashboard is not customizable.
Keystroke logging is not available.
Optical character recognition on screenshots would be very advantageous.

ActivTrak is well suited for finding out when (time of day) and where (computer workstations) your staff members are being productive or nonproductive. It will show you what applications and what websites the staff is spending their time on and highlight the levels of productive or unproductive times. By highlighting your strengths and weaknesses, you can adjust your staff workflow to have a more productive workforce.
To know productivity of teams. To learn where team members are having congestion or busy times or if they over work. To evenly distribute the work, to figure out if team members are burnt, need to add more resources or not to that particular team. gives weekly time graphs and daily average hours and weekly average hours
Pros
Breakdown of usage task wise like time for test rail etc
Breakdown of usage task wise like time for technology etc
Cons
it is good as it is
it counts weekends if we work weekends and drops average hours which is demerit
it counts weekends if we work weekends and drops average hours which is demerit
Likelihood to Recommend
ActivTrak is well suited, to find which team members are over working and who has less hours so it could be distributed evenly and failry to all

Engineer in Engineering (Automotive company, 501-1000 employees)
we use ActivTrak to track our employee's working hours and evaluate their workload and productivity. When organization is getting bigger and everyone is so busy on their own things, it is critical to have a system to be a fact checker to reflect which team has the most working hours and further, if the most working hours, it is caused by more business demand or just unnecessary processes internally, etc. and how to improve it.
Pros
total screen hours tracking
working hours details
app usage
Likelihood to Recommend
working hours tracking is well suited as we are a salary based company, working hours could be a good metric to measure employees' attitude and efforts spent on work.
so far didnt see any downside.

Manager in Corporate (Textiles company, 51-200 employees)
We use ActivTrak as a way to see what percentage of our employees time is being spent doing productive vs unproductive activies (ie work related vs personal internet usage). Since we are a hybrid workforce, we also use it as a secondary tool to check working hours, as well as breaks.
Pros
Custom groups, so you can define departments.
Classifications, which can be tailored to what is productive and not based on department
Live reports so you can see who is active or not
Cons
Updating the billing information so it is on the interface. There's no way to get invoices or change payment methods on our own, we have to contact a sales rep to do so.
When a customer gets rid of a license, prorate the unused portion of it (we get charged for upgrading).
Likelihood to Recommend
It depends on the business model and wants of the colleague -- are they hybrid? Are they wanting to track productivity vs non productivity? The referral would base solely on what the colleague is looking for and what features they're wanting out of a platform. We use the interface in such a limited capacity that I couldn't highlight additional benefits that could, and are there, but it would be something I would tell someone to at least look into.

Manager in Finance and Accounting (Consumer Goods company, 1-10 employees)
We use it to ensure that our employees working remotely are in fact being productive. We compare productivity when working remotely vs in the office. We look to see when employees are overworking so that we can provide proper support. We also have strict policies for use because we are a defense contractor. We use the alerts to let us know when someone is doing things that are prohibited (ie. using dropbox, storing data to a USB, etc)
Pros
Tracking Productivity
Providing Alerts for prohibited activities
Reporting
Cons
Include Employees with no activity in reports
Alert or report for when employee has not done work in a day (absent)
Be able to remove the screenshots from the alarm log so you can only see actual alarms
Likelihood to Recommend
It works very well for tracking the efficiency of your team. Tracking if employees are working or not, especially when you have remote employees. I think it is also great for compliance.

Vice-President in Sales (Machinery company, 201-500 employees)
ActivTrak has truly our business. As a manager, staying on top of everyone's tasks and productivity used to be a bit of a challenge but since we started using ActivTrak, I feel like I have a personal productivity assistant when I need it. The problems we were facing were remote users but now I feel comfortable with this great tool.
Pros
Actively monitoring user details
Clear picture of workflow / activity
Where time is spent
Cons
Option to Not Track computers instead of just user profiles
Easier to activate/alert to when a device is seen online
Likelihood to Recommend
I can see which apps are getting the most use, where time is being spent, and if there are any obsticles slowing down the work.

Productivity tracking, Time sheet verification and Insider Risk are the use cases we currently use ActivTrak for.
Pros
Very generic but just high view of system use
Analytics are really good
Seems to be very accurate reporting
Cons
Being able to pin point productive vs non-productive time
Activity log alarms
Being able to limit permissions better for non-admin users while retaining functionality
Likelihood to Recommend
Allows for high level productivity tracking on simple system use. Good
Some features require higher permissions than we are comfortable giving our managers, so they make do with lesser permissions. Needs improvement...maybe more user types.

Manager in Human Resources (Defense & Space company, 51-200 employees)
We use ActivTrak to validate management concerns regarding employee performance. Our usage policy is designed so the the tool is not used to go looking for problems but rather to verify suspected activities. The use of the system is strictly limited and is only used when authorized by Human Resources.
Pros
Excellent quick view of productivity ratio
Clear visualization of types of activities over a time time period
Very granular detailed information showing all activities without gaps
Cons
Would like to have the ability to create custom reports
Would like to see more built in reports
Likelihood to Recommend
ActivTrak has been the most reliable and accurate usage tracking tool that we have found. It is not intrusive nor visible to the end user and does not cause performance issues. The data visualizations enable fast evaluation of employee performance. The classification system is easy to use and is flexible enough to accommodate exceptions that need to be added for specific users. Reporting is detailed and can be trusted if needed to be used for legal support.
