ActivTrak serves organizations seeking to monitor and manage employee productivity, particularly within remote or hybrid work environments. In TrustRadius reviews, users leverage the platform to gain visibility into how employees spend their time, track website and application usage, and identify productivity trends. Its ability to distinguish between active and passive work time, coupled with robust activity tracking, is a frequently cited strength.
The platform often leads to increased productivity and more data-driven managerial decisions, with 34% of reviewers reporting a direct increase in productivity. However, some users express concerns about reporting customization and an overwhelming user interface. It really depends on what your department needs as far as tracking goes. The ability to get super detailed may not be for everyone, but ActivTrak does a great job at giving a large overview of how the company is doing in general. We do not utilize all the tools available, but for what we need, it does the job. I would recommend it.

We are using it across our organization. At this point employees don't have access just managers. We are looking at a hybrid working situation with our employees and deciding if it is efficient to have employees working from home. We plan to roll it out so employees can track their own efficiency shortly.
Pros
Looks at work hours
Looks at productive hours
Gives overview of where time is being spent
Cons

We currently use ActivTrak for employees working remotely and a few employees that work in a hybrid office/remote role. We are using the data gathered to prove that people working remotely are in fact working, to give employees the opportunity to see their own metrics and determine how they can be more efficient, and also to generate transparency and trust between managers and production teams that are not in the same physical space.
Pros
Track times of first activity and last activity in a work day
Identify users who are overutilized
Show comparisons between different groups data
Cons
I would like to be able to compare users to other users without having to create a specific group for each user
There is an overwhelming amount of data without much description of how the data is gathered.

-ActivTrak is well suited for remotely located production-level employees or employees who work remotely on a typically reoccurring basis. -ActivTrak is less suited for management-level employees. The [number] of phone calls and or face-to-face conversations can not be captured with ActivTrak.
ActivTrak provides clarity, insight, etc. Allows us to quickly address security concerns, compliance, productivity, and much more. With the no-nonsense UI, it is very easy to navigate and reliable. The agent on the local machines never skips a beat. The software is also stored in a way that is not user-editable. Updating and deploying the agent is also very easy.
Pros
Insight Into Security Concerns
Preserved Historical Data
Analytics
Screen Capture
Cons
When searching for data, do not start the search until I push search. Takes valuable time away.
Bring the billing history back into ActivTrak.
Create a notification that is emailed to the administrator saying you are low or out of licenses. Sometimes users log in to multiple machines and use up our licenses. Then I have to erase a few to gain access again.

It is currently being used by a single department within the company. It has helped with transitioning to a hybrid/remote work situation. Not only being able to understand productivity and engagement but also software usage has helped us better understand the workload on our teams. In time I do believe it will be adopted by the entire company.
Pros
Track software usages for licensing purposes
Track productivity
Provides a user friendly platform
Cons
Too many tabs on the left. Pages need condensed and more accurate naming
Could have better onboarding training
More support with how to structure back of house setup

ActivTrak does all the things a monitoring software should do well. It has been helpful in understand the productivity of teams and their software usage.
We use ActivTrak for our design team and those who work out of country. It helps us to track productivity and clients that are being worked on. It helps with the peace of mind that things are getting done.
Pros
ActivTrak takes screenshots. We don't look at those often, but it is nice to be able take a look and see what clients are being worked on.
You can set websites/apps as productive or unproductive. It is useful when taking a quick glance at the productivity chart.
Cons
The only thing I wish could be done is when you are looking at the top users graph, it would be nice to be able to mark things as productive or unproductive on that graph instead of having to go to a different page to do so.

With a lot of employees working from home, it is nice to be able to look at ActivTrak and seeing what's being done. We don't look at it on a daily basis, but it is useful to look at when something needs to be confirmed.
This is being used in various departments as a means to review daily activity while employees are working remotely. It has helped us significantly in understanding each employee's daily workload and success.
Pros
Reviews each website that is being utilized.
Provides notifications if employees are close to burning out due to work overload.
Provides an easy quick look into who is available and who is not should you need to contact them.
Cons
Lots of glitches: Screen sometimes doesn't show an employee or the names are all blank even though I know they are working.

Other than the glitches, it is working well for us.
With many of our employees working from home, it’s a way of being able to make sure the offsite employees are staying busy and on track. It’s also a great tool for all employees, as we use it to check productivity per team. Employees have access to see their coworker's productivity within their team. I personally use it as a tool to motivate teammates.
Pros
Tracking work time: start & stop
Productivity

As a manager, it’s a great tool to review and make sure employees are starting and stopping their day as per their work hours while working from home. Keeping an eye on websites that employees shouldn’t frequent. Keeping employees on track with their work.
