User Testimonials

Microsoft Teams is ideal for organizations where employees regularly collaborate by sharing files, working on the same documents, updating the progress, etc. This is because different file formats are supported for online editing and collaboration with the help of Microsoft Teams. Additionally, for every file which is shared among the team members, emails are not sent again and again which helps in easily managing and organizing files. It is less appropriate where the team members have to instantly reply to an urgent task as sometimes the notifications are not sent properly which may lead to a delay in the work.

Quip is an excellent program for pulling all writing together under one roof. Some may argue that you could just use the Google suite of products (which is technically true), however, I think Quip is easier to use and bring all document types together with better organization. The searchability is top-notch (I solely use ctrl+j and the search pane to move through Quip). For any company that does a lot of writing for multiple clients, or has a lot of projects going, it provides solid organization. It also is great for allowing visibility into project status without someone potentially causing a conflict (corrupting a document). If you are looking for a full-scale project management software - Quip could probably do it, but it would likely take a bit more internal work to get your system setup.

Pros
  • Video calls are great with Microsoft Teams. They've made big improvements over the last year and I rarely have issue with getting on. It's nice when things just work.
  • The most used functionality is, of course, the chat feature. It does what it's supposed to do and you can create chat groups from whoever you'd like. We use it a lot when there is a special project and a team from various groups get together for a short period of time to get things done.
  • An overlooked function is the ability to search anything within Microsoft Teams. Any photo, document, or chat can be searched and found pretty easily. I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from having to rewrite something or start over.

  • Lists - Quip makes it easy to log your thoughts or tasks into bulleted, numbered or check-boxed lists. You can click checkboxes to mark things off the list, and you can drag and drop single line items to reorder your list very easily. This is especially helpful in prioritizing tasks on the fly.
  • Organization - you can group your documents into various folders, favorite the ones you use most, and track changes and updates to each file. It has a very Slack-y feel to the way things are organized, which I find useful.
  • Sharing - Quip is a very collaborative tool, allowing you to share and edit documents with co-workers, and get notifications when they update or respond on a particular file.

Cons
  • I sometimes have a hard time viewing both the meeting screen and chat window at the same time.
  • There have been times when someone in a meeting will totally lose their connection.
  • At times the sound quality is not what it should be which makes it hard to hear each other.

  • The search feature is powerful but it could definitely be finetuned. Sometimes it shows results that make me wonder why those particular ones showed up.
  • The update to the dashboard (recent update) happened without us being aware and we had to relearn how to work around the platform.

Microsoft Teams is included with our Office 365 subscription and we have no intention of migrating off of Office 365 and Microsoft products. Since Microsoft Teams is included for free with our Office 365 subscription, and since we enjoy all the features, benefits, and functionality, there is no question that our team will continue to use the product

It is the best collaboration tool in my company. Through it, the organization has achieved better connectivity and efficiency in its communication. Primarily, the docs feature of this software is the most utilized in the company. Slowly, dash-boarding and project management features have also been utilized. Generally, it is the best tool, very easy and fairly streamlined

Support Rating
I think Microsoft Team is overall good application for communication, track Project work inter the teams and also intra teams. I have 7 out of 10 because it needs improvements in certain features like video sharing call, call drop, audio quality and connecting problems even after having good internet connection.

I have never used Quip's support. To be fair, we hired someone who used to work for Quip before working at our company, and he implemented it and pushed it with the team. He was very biased toward the product, and yes it was better than Google Drive, but by how much?

Alternatives Considered
We chose primarily because of the promised integration with the Microsoft Business Suite - which it mostly delivers on. That does give Teams an obvious advantage over competitors. IMHO Teams has a richer, more mature feature set, and the experience is more reliable and stable. Although like any of there there is room for imporvement.

1. We use it as an effective way of collaboration between teams. 2. Can be used as an online spreadsheet. 3. It helps in accessing the data by multiple teams hassle-free. 4. Can customize the action, like editing or locking the spreadsheet to the other users based on the business need.

Return on Investment
  • User experience has been much better than the previous Skype for Business app. It has an easy-to-use interface with persistent chats. The search feature is very fast and useful.
  • MS Teams has mostly focused on Collaboration and team building features which are very useful for organisational communications. This in turn has a positive impact on the overall business outcome.
  • Scheduling meetings have never been so easy in the past. We can schedule meetings on the go without any hassles
  • Since Teams is accessible from multiple platforms like Laptop, Desktop, Mobile phones, etc it has been very convenient from a Mobility perspective.

  • It is a tool that allows work teams to move forward in a centralized way and meet their objectives as efficiently as possible; this has allowed us to meet our customers and brought more work to the organization, therefore more revenue; I would say that the ROI was fast enough, as expected.
