Later is great for not only small and large businesses, but also for influencers who want a curated feed that they can easily auto-publish. If you need to tag your Instagram photos on a consistent basis, that might be a struggle, but in general, for the minimal cost and features, Later is well worth the cost. Additionally, their technical support takes 24-28 hours to respond to via chat, but it's within the software so it's very simple.

I was strictly the implementor of Livefyre (for my company only). That task alone was at least 3 weeks worth of work. From a user standpoint, Livefyre is a good product which is why this review is strictly about how difficult it was to implement. Therefore, if a colleague was to ask me if I recommend Livefyre, it's not a straight answer. Questions like, 'how fast do you need it?', 'how centralized is your user database?', 'do you want social login?', all come into question and were details that made my job not easy (hence, my review of 5/10 for suggesting it to others). Once implemented, Livefyre is a great product (notice my overall review is higher), but based on my experience with implementation, it certainly requires a senior developer's dedicated time and patience to set up exactly as desired. For smaller companies with small/simple user bases and websites, the process may be more straightforward, but from my experience, it wasn't out-of-the-box at all.

Pros
  • Allows you to schedule Instagram Stories Content. No other tool that I have tried allows this feature.
  • Great analytics available for Instagram - something that lacks on many other platforms.
  • The LinkIn.Bio feature allows you to drive traffic to multiple sources, which is helpful for accounts without a swipe-up link.
  • It's easy to switch between accounts if you are managing multiple brands and platforms.

  • It's pretty flexible. There were only a few things we found that were too specific to our environment and could not be easily done.
  • The out-of-the-box GUI design was decent. It was also configurable with limited custom CSS, anticipating the need for each company to customize the look and feel to suit their own needs.
  • Basic interface is good, providing the necessary data points like total comment count. Visual effects are good too, with fade-in effects for new comments.
  • They also provide back-end APIs to gather information about the "hottest" threads. We used this to construct our own "Hot Topics" section that could link users to the related article so they could comment themselves.
  • Good support, even after implementation. They were always available by phone and even through realtime IM chats direct to their developers, skipping awkward non-technical middlemen.

Cons
  • Would be wonderful if there was a way to copy posts easily.
  • Would be nice to view posts without opening like you plan to edit them. Just want to preview them like an email.
  • Would be nice to be able to schedule posts to Facebook Groups.

  • Obviously we all want it all free! So make it all free and woohoo!
  • A complaint about the price point leaps is that they are pretty steep, goes from free to pricey real fast.
  • The comment management tools although easy and fast are a bit limited.

We are planning to continue using Livefyre comments on several of our blog properties due to its simplicity, transparency and speed of operation. We are actively researching it's more advanced features for some other platforms that need higher end results. Keep up the good work Livefyre.

Usability
The desktop site is almost perfect, I love it. I love that I can drag and drop, I love that I can easily and quickly switch to analytics and switching profiles... love the ease of link in bio. so great!

It's really easy to implement that app but should improve some analytics.

Support Rating
Later are not just a software tool, they also provide marketing advice, tips, and tutorials via their blog. I’ve only had to reach out to them for help a few times and have found them to respond much faster than other tools in their category. I receive weekly emails with updates, marketing tips and invites to online events. I look forward to their emails as I’ve learned a lot of things that I’ve been able to actually implement.

Alternatives Considered
It's superior. Simply put. Later has better features and stronger functionalities, many of which none of these other tools have. When I used any of the previous tools there was always something missing so I had no choice but to work with two or three tools at the same time. Later replaced all of those tools and now I can manage everything from one single tool.

I used Disqus about 5-6 years ago, but I've wanted to try the Livefyre app, and it was really quite a good experience for me.

Return on Investment
  • Later has at least made me accountable for my content calendar. It helps me schedule posts in advance and allows me to see what my page will look like so I can visually plan out content.
  • Later has helped me post a few times with the auto-post feature. It's been great for my static images, but I just wish I could do it for everything!

  • The heavy work is already done given that we take the time to implement.
  • Very useful insights and AI powered delivery.
