Vasion Print (formerly PrinterLogic) helps IT professionals reduce legacy infrastructure and costs by eliminating the need for print servers. Vasion Print delivers a highly available Serverless Printing Infrastructure built on our centrally managed direct IP printing platform.
Well suited for a company with low to medium-duty print needs, or for a company that isn't ready to lease or purchase a commercial copier. Not well suited for a company that prints a lot of pages in a month, or for a company that only wants to purchase one model of toner, because they are not very interchangeable.
Implementation when moving from on site print servers to Vasion Print was super easy and very simple to do. Seems well suited for any sized organization that doesn't want to have to manage print servers any longer. Other than adding and retireing printers from the system many of our other printer issues have largely gone away. Unless you are a very small organization with only a few printers I can't think of a situation where Vasion Print wouldn't be helpful.
We would like to move all of our print accounting into Vasion Print, but there are some features we use in Pharos that Vasion is still building out.
The repository can get a little unwieldy if too many people are adding drivers. An internal check to see if a driver for a particular printer is already available would be a nice feature.
Direct authenticated release of print jobs from the printer device would be a nice feature.
Hands down one of our best investments for our IT staff. This has saved so much time and frustration and it well worth the cost. If the budget starts to gets tight, this is one of the last things we would cut out. We also purchased this through our copy machine vendor so it's nice that the charge is integrated with our copy machines lease
The limitation for the map/location of devices. Wished there were more features to customize this both the list and the map was more interactive for users. I think users would appreciate that more. Everything else from an IT Tech perspective, gets the job done. No real complaints for this management tool for printers/copiers.
A colleague has reported a performance issue with loading printer profiles on Edge. It sometimes takes a very long time to come up, and sometimes not at all, but he switches over to Chrome, and the interface comes up very quickly. This might be a fringe case, since I am able to launch the same profile on Edge browser without any problems.
Whenever I've contacted Vasion Print support the responses are always rapid and thorough. The support staff is knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions I have. Most of the time we needed support was at the beginning of our implementation. Our account rep as well as technical support were skilled and responsive.
Cost per page is a lot better than the Pixma Pro. You can purchase replacement parts for the HP more easily if something is to break after warranty. The cost of ownership is lower than the Pixma Pro due to the Pixma Pro being a throw away if something was to break on it.
I have not used any other products like Vasion Print. We looked into Papercut before Vasion Print was recommended but didn't like what we saw when we compared the two products. Ultimately we went with Vasion Print because of its user friendly environment and scalability. It was a better fit for our organization. I feel that we made the right choice.
