Compared to bulk messaging students who are listed as 'matches' on the job listing page, the segments & campaigns I created were so helpful in identifying leads & helping to convert those leads to applicants without me having to continually follow-up with students (thank you- follow-up email feature!) For roles that require a lot of applicant flow, or for positions that require a large cohort of hires at one time, these features are perfect.

It is very well for the IT recruitment. Database of the C2C is candidate is very large and very helpful. Monster.com timely do the updates so less bugs and less issues compared to other portals. Using different to get the best potential candidate is very good while using Monster Job Portal.

Cons
  • I would love if there were a better way to filter by experience. Currently, it's based on graduation date but a lot of my talent segments pick up people with 10+ years of experience that recently started or completed another degree. This is frustrating for the candidate who receives a bunch of misplaced messages and for recruiters who have to explain why they received a message about an internship they are clearly overqualified for. Can we separate grad year from years of experience in the segmentation somehow?
  • I wish there were an easier way to "blacklist" candidates who were rude or expressed a sentiment of never wanting to hear from me or my company again. These are people that I don't want to accidentally include in a campaign message 6 months later.

  • Monster.com can improve on its data redundancy aspect. It frustrates the users to look at or access the same sets of results or the same applications again and again.
  • It can also look into the spam feature. There are ways one can spam it by taking out information.

With the use of Monster.com I can get my job done with the turn around time. The user interface is very good to use and anyone can use it at the first time. It has saved search features which is very useful for tracking. Mainly, it is useful for both job seekers as well as for the recruiters.

Becca always responds very quickly to my questions. We had an issue where I couldn't register for a fair because another division of my company had already registered and this problem was fixed the next day. I feel like the team at Handshake Talent Engagement Suite actually cares about my experience. Not all companies do once the contract is signed! They definitely treat their customers well. I literally feel like I am their only customer.

Monster is a job portal with rich features and a great depth of database in candidates. They also have a good search option that is able to display the right candidates when you search for them. The only gripe that I have about Monster is that they need to improve their database of candidates when it comes to blue-collar jobs or non-software jobs.

Alternatives Considered
Handshake and Untapped both have their pros and cons. The campaign features in Handshake are really unparalleled and allow you to reach a relevant and diverse set of students quickly and efficiently. Untapped has the ability to go through the profiles of individual students to really source specific people (which Handshake doesn't allow), but the filtering features needed work and it was tougher to reach a lot of students at once.

Monster.com Vs. Dice.com Vs. Indeed.com Vs. Naukri.com Vs. LinkedIn.com Monster has a larger database than Dice Monster and has a broader reach across all sectors not related to tech. With Monster, we can attract more active candidates than passive ones that LinkedIn uses. Monster is more globally present than Naukri, which is used mostly only in India. Monster job posts are more effective than Indeed.

Return on Investment
  • Handshake has definitely positively impacted our business objectives. Handshake pulled some data for us and we found out that 39% of our hired interns & new grads thus far followed up with us, received a message, or RSVP'd to an event on Handshake so far this year.
