LogMeIn Central by GoTo vs. SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)

LogMeIn Central by GoTo is well suited for easy, direct access to specific, perhaps mission critical, machines. Its remote control functionality and speed is very good - best in class, really. However, it simply can't replace a true and traditional RMM product in terms of robustness and overall ability (or lack thereof).

I think for ANY environment it's worth taking it out for a test drive. It's very powerful, especially when using the agent to connect to sessions where the end user doesn't need admin rights but when not in a VDI environment it likely would perform better with its built in functionality to ask for elevation. It is really powerful, even with the ability to run command line scripts without the user seeing (kind of a built in psexec) and it does work with Mac and Linux to some degree too so it really is worth trying out regardless of your environment. It may be just what you're looking for and the sales folks at DRE are not pushy at all, at least in my experience, and give great advice even at the expense of selling less licenses!

• IT professionals can explore and use the platform more easily because to its intuitive interfaces and user-friendly features.
• It keeps an eye on the functionality and health of the gadgets, sending out notifications in real time if anything seems wrong.

• Remote control is solid, rarely loses connection
• Allows for control of the desktop prior to login
• Allows for scripts to be executed in the background without disturbing users
• Allows for batch rollout of scripts across multiple machines
• Allows us to see the end users' desktop - as opposed to RDP

• It could pull up the user's login in addition to the hostname
• Employee shortcuts like "win+r", "Ctrl+shitf+dell", on the computer that is connected remotely. This is needed
• Being able to minimize the bar in the top corner of the screen that is left when you are connected to a remote computer

• Connectivity to a helpdesk/knowledgebase would be nice feature so users can do self-help
• Offering a branded version of the client/agent would be a nice touch for businesses
• A web-only version of the technician console for remote support would be a nice feature

What I dont like is when I run out of licenses that the only way to get more is to buy large amounts. this is very frustrating and as a small business I need to watch how much i am spending. smaller license packs would be better

It is wonderful after the initial setup and implementation.It's fairly intuitive and easy to use for more of our tech and users. These types of products have come a long way. I've been in tech for 20+ years, and thinking back to tools like PC anywhere things have become just so much more user friendly on both ends of the device.

During our 6 years of use, we [have] never seen any downtime from their side. The application simply works. We have had incidents when we were not able to connect to remote servers by any means, but LogMeIn Central always worked. It has saved us trips to other offices. We have few users are who live in rural areas where internet speeds are not great. Supporting these users is a big challenge, but LogMeIn Central was always a lifesaver.

SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere is an easy to use software package. The manuals are easy to understand, and the installation is simple and straightforward. The Maintenance and support costs are relatively reasonable, and we maintain support and maintenance strictly for the upgrades rather than support. Over the years, SolarWinds has released numerous feature enhancements to the software package, making SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere indispensable on our network.

LogmeIn Central is the fastest RMM in terms of remote connection. It generally performs well on networks that have low bandwidth too. In terms of features, Datto RMM does best it because it offers such a good platform for integrations and also for scripting. The community is very open with that software which really gives it a boost, and this is something LogMein Central could work on.

We basically selected this for our one of the SolarWinds Project. In that we needed to take remote session and screensharing and do the analysis and troubleshooting. In our initial analysis itself we got the excellent result, and it was too quick. We were very much inspired from this. Later on, we started using SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE) for almost all the projects of SolarWinds. Highly appreciated, thanks team.

• Its a very comprehensive and cost effective solution from Central that is very easy to use and user friendly.
• Its compliant with many security policies. Hence boost security for our clients and end users.
• The downtime was very low, hence making it more reliable and top-notch.

• seamless installation of MSI or EXE
• No Codes to enter when installing agent
• Agent automatically connects to cloud dashboard
• our deployment tool has messed up a couple of times, so agents get uninstalled or not installed when this occurs, and we can't see a computer in the dashboard
