Epicor Propello is incredibly user friendly from both a front-end user and a back-end user. Cashiers have an ease in learning the software and everything they need is on the screen in front of them. This means that even if they were to forget how something works, it is present on the screen if they look for it. Back end is easy to work with also. We have slowly progressed to using the different features this offers including tracking and maintaining supplies, new goods and donations. They are straight forward on how to use, and the support team has always been there for us when we have had any questions. They are rolling out a BETA this mid-year to allow companies to build out their own data-based reporting platform that I am really looking forward too.

In a fast-paced, high-volume environment, this simple POS is a perfect solution to completing sales transactions. However, for establishments that would like to truly customize what their staff is seeing and ringing in, and what the guests are seeing when receipts are printed, this POS does leave something to be desired.

Cons
  • Entering monthly/yearly budgets is time consuming and clunky
  • Printing tags to a roll vs a paper printer is more complicated to set up
  • item lookup from the front of the POS screen doesnt pull items. Have to hit search to pull up item list.

  • Honestly, I have yet to have an issue with any of the functions of Aloha. The only thing that was a little complex was the end-of-day functions, (as we were a 24-hr casino) as if there were any open items, it would just auto-close these and that could get a little troublesome if I was behind in closing out checks. But I am not entirely sure if that was related to how our company itself was set up to run, not the actual Software.

Usability
It is honestly just so easy to use and setup. This has helped our culture at work a ton! The crew used to get very nervous about running register, that is not the case anymore

Overall, Aloha POS's usability is phenomenal. The interface is extremely easy to navigate through. All buttons and tabs are easy to add or delete. Having a piece of software that is easy to toggle through creates a much more efficient workplace. I love the ease of use. A brand new employee can jump right into the system and use it with no issues.

There were a lot of instances where I had to call back or a problem wasn't resolved, specifically with Aloha loyalty.

Alternatives Considered
Clover is a nice system for a small one or two location enterprise, but with Epicor it is full service and the credit card processing fees are much more affordable as well.

Micros POS comes to mind as another point of sale system that I've had a terrible experience with. From bland presentation, unintuitive software, to clunky and malfunctioning hardware. The units would crash, slow, down, and the touch screens were unresponsive. It was a simple order and fire system, lacking the complexities of Aloha's course system and elaborate payment screen.
