dotMailer is a great tool whether you are a standalone shop or a global company. I am not familiar with many other programs, but my favorite thing about dotMailer is the ability to have all of our constituents on the same account to share templates and ideas, as well as gauge our performance levels. To any colleague within our Group, I would 100% recommend dotMailer

I raised a ticket. It’s been four days and they won’t reply. So I raised another ticket asking why they are not replying. The issue was quite urgent. Then in a very short time, I saw the ticket was closed. So they have time to close my ticket, but they don’t have time or they don’t want to reply to a ticket. Very interesting.

Their attitude of doing nothing is the worst and the rudest I’ve ever seen in my years of working with several email service companies. And I see that they blame this on the pandemic. But many other good companies, they are not doing this. Your problem is your problem, don’t try to blame someone else.

So, please DO NOT buy it, consider others.

  • Mailjet is good at "links", it's really easy to link your content and photos to outside links.
  • Mailjet is good at getting emails out in a timely fashion.
  • Mailjet is really cost-effective compared to their competitors for what all you get.

Cons
  • Updating contact lists can be cumbersome. It would be much easier if we could just make mass update to contact lists without having to export and re-import them. For example, if you upload a list of Joe's contacts and then want them to all be individually tagged with Jane instead, you would have to export the list, change everyone's rep to Jane, and then import the list again.
  • The time zone on our account is set to London which creates challenges for the other cities (New York, Chicago, Seattle, Sao Paulo) that we send emails for. We definitely have to be cautious when scheduling out emails so that we get the timing correct.
  • I would love to be able to view previous months' activities and expand the comparison tool to view trends over time.

  • They don't have any mobile application of it. This is the major drawback of this software.
  • Their support facility takes longer time to resolve issues. They should have instant chat option also for quick solutions.
  • Post campaign reporting functionality could be more diversified. It seems basic only.

Since this is used on a global scale and it is preferable to all of our brands, I cannot see us switching to a different provider. We have built years worth of contacts and templates within our current system, which saves our marketing team a lot of time when putting together future campaigns. All of them are mobile optimized which makes it even easier to work with

Alternatives Considered
DotMailer is built for eCommerce. Drip, ActiveCampaign, and Infusionsoft are not eCommerce platforms out of the box, though they can be tailored to that use case. DotMailer is especially geared toward retail businesses.

The only real incentive to use Mailjet over Mailchimp is the price. They offer a better priced solution. A large email list can be very expensive but with Mailjet it was affordable. Only not worth the customer service lack that comes along with it

Return on Investment
  • Gave us more granular segmentation than simply pages visited or products purchased.
  • Helped us segment local customers vs long-distance customers, and send different messaging to each.
  • It takes a product feed, so enabled us to launch personalized product recommendations in emails.

  • Changing from active campaign to Mailjet decreased our mail spend by more than 50% in savings.
  • Been able to send so many emails for different campaigns increases our retention with active users who became engaged users. In our case, it is important to be in constant communication with customers.
  • Mailjet needs to be complemented with other tools, such as Zapier, in order to create better implementations. It might cost you for additional software but it is still cheaper than solutions that charge you by the number of users.
