Cayuse (SmartGrant) vs. SAP for Higher Education and Research

Cayuse (SmartGrant) is well suited for institutions who have multiple grants and projects that need to be organized, tracked, and followed up with. The closing and sorting of projects is also helpful when using this software. Multiple signers also have access to approvals electronically which makes the process more simplified and accessible for all parties involved.

• Nice User Interface ( I have also used the same product years ago and the User Interface technology at that time was totally different. I think it was more based on java on that days while nowadays it is mostly using HTML5)

Needs better error handling but it might be due to poor development, maybe not because of the product itself...

• The concur platform integrates all the necessary steps for reservation, expense reports, and reimbursement.
• It has customer supports that can easily be reached by emails.

• Being able to include feedback/comments on the process would be helpful for tracking and organizing from parties involved
• Understanding accessibility in a more clear way would be great

• Error Handling : Sometimes it created some issues where there was not enough explanation. But I think it is mostly related with the consulting company making poor development.
• In every period, when students tries to access to the system all together and sign up for the courses, it always crashed for minimum a week. I think it requires Load Balancing.
• The options we used were very limited there, I think there is more capabilities for collaboration is still needed. For example, exams, homeworks etc can be managed by itç

Cayuse (SmartGrant) has been in place at our institution for a while and we wouldn’t examine using anything else because it has been easy to work with, access, and stay organized with. Cayuse (SmartGrant) is also used for our office of research and is separate from our development software to keep everyone organized.

With its many partnerships and connections with other software used in higher education and research, SAP may assist institutions in streamlining their operations and enhancing access functionality. I chose SAP because I am already familiar with the other SAP products. I couldn't think of any other tools which stacks up against SAP for Higher Education and Research

• The award paperwork process and reporting is easily trackable
• Uploading documents like LOIs and proposals are simple
