As a transaction manager, I think it's awesome. I think feeding the financial info into Quickbooks is less appropriate. That was complex for me, and I don't use Quickbooks - so I track all of my money flow with a spreadsheet - duplicitous - Maybe I just need training :-)

I think it's only appropriate if you're already using the software as it's so antiquated and hasn't been evolving nearly quick enough to keep up with modern expectations. There is no API, making it impossible to easily integrate with other systems, which I would say, is table stakes in this modern environment.

  • There are a lot of ways to drill down into information. The ability to run inquiries that can be easily exported into Excel is incredibly useful.
  • The help desk is very helpful. There are multiple ways to get a hold of someone and it is extremely useful.
  • The knowledgebase articles are very helpful and provide a lot of great detail.

Cons
  • Its signing software is not as good as Instanet.
  • It is a little slow at times, but not annoyingly so.
  • Sometimes setting commission for yourself can be confusing.

  • They have never dramatically changed the software in the last 20 years. The format could be improved.
  • Very expensive. Pay every year for upgrades that don't really change anything. Need to pay for each user.
  • Really hard to set up correctly. New users need to spend a month of labor getting all the cost codes in there and all the vendors in the system.
  • The system crashes a lot, you'll be working along and then you get a critical error and need to restart it.

Sage is somewhat easy to use as far as its simplicity, however, when I first started using it I really wished there were more training materials available. As I did research to figure out what resources were there to learn how to use the paid software, all I found were courses you have to pay for. In my personal opinion, I don't think you should have to pay to learn how to use a software you bought.

Support Rating
Brokermint is awesome. I would recommend it to any broker who is below 200 agents, who has a need for a transaction management and commission management software. The staff does not have to be large to have a great ROI and be able to teach and require agents to do what they are required to be compliant with FREC and government agencies.

Their support services are strong once you start talking to them. There is often a long wait for support if you try to call them on the phone. I also find it challenging to do support via e-mail because of the time lag and the simplex form of communication.

Alternatives Considered
Brokermint is best for smaller brokerages which are growing their full-time staff. It is simple, easy to use, less frustrating than most, and will please agents because the interface is logical and well thought out. SkySlope is more for very large brokerages, which need algorithmic multi-phasic functions. Great for large teams, with multiple types of agents, support staff, and administrators.

In the case of Procore vs. Sage it's like apples and oranges. Procore is not an accounting software although they do offer some accounting tie-ins to Sage's data so it's possible for a company to use both but the cost of that is astronomical, Sage already having a larger yearly fee along with Procore's astronomical fees. In comparing I will concentrate on the Project Management side where I would give the big edge to Procore both for usability, interface and mobility however when you compare the price differences it becomes difficult to recommend Procore at all. Considering yearly costs for every $100 one has to pay for Sage they have to pay $500 for Procore so if your year Sage maintenance cost is $25,000 you will have to pay between $100 to $200K for Procore and that is only for the PM side of things. If one is cost-conscious then Sage is by far the better choice.
