Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam Data Platform to back up our virtual and physical servers. The option of offsite backups, tape backups and immutable backups is important to us. Furthermore, we had to ensure the lowest possible RPO and RTO times.

Pros

  • fast backup of virtual machines
  • immutable backups
  • fast recovery

Cons

  • level of detail in case something goes wrong
  • much lower RPO
  • much lower RTO
  • reliable backup verification
The Acronis solution was confusing and at times could not map what we needed. Furthermore, we received information from Acronis that subsequently turned out to be incorrect. When evaluating Veeam Data Platform, on the other hand, we were able to map what we needed directly.

In my opinion, Veeam Data Platform is the best solution for backing up virtual servers. The setup is easy to understand and implement and the available options for backup and restore are diverse. The backup of physical servers also works, but is not as well implemented as the backup of virtual servers.
