Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam Data Platform to backup and replicate virtual servers that are used in our manufacturing business. We also backup some critical desktops using this software in order to accelerate recovery times in the case of a hardware failure. We utilize Veeam Data Platform Backup Copy feature to copy backup files off site to facilitate recovery if our main location if compromised (fire, flood, tornado, electrical surge, etc.).
Pros
- Backup of virtual machines
- Replication of virtual machines to alternate hosts
- Backup of desktop PC's
- Restoration of backed up files or entire machines
- Failover to replica virtual machines
Cons
- Veeam Data Platform no longer supports as large of a range of OS versions for VM's being backed up or replicated
- Failover options to replicas can be confusing to select the correct options
- Load time for console can be random. Generally, not a big issue though.
- Luckily, we have not needed entire machine recovery very often.
- We utilize file level recovery frequently to save time rebuilding a file that was modified, corrupted, or accidentally deleted.
- We lean on this product to protect our business and see it as a very inexpensive form of insurance to protect the livelihood of our business and all our employees and customers.
Veeam Data Platform has always met and exceeded our minimum requirements for features. They have stayed up-to-date and ahead of the technologies in the industry. Competition always seems to fall short in features, usability, support, or pricing.
