Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam to protect our servers, NAS data and our office 365 data. I consider this an integral component of our infrastructure and sleep much better at night knowing that my data is always being protected in case I need to restore.

We have used the individual file restore for staff accidental file deletions on the file server and it has been a life saver!

Pros

  • Daily backup of servers
  • Backup of our NAS data
  • Backup office 365 data
  • Intuitive interface

Cons

  • I wasn't able to get surebackup working
  • Sometimes I have to manually clean up old backups to make room for new ones
  • Subscription renew process can be confusing
  • An intangible amount of time and money. a tech was working late and accidentally used diskpart on the wrong volume of the file server. Everything lost. Veeam had the data restored before business started the next morning
Cheaper, and supported. We had a bad experience with Carbonite being seemingly abandoned. It was difficult to use and support seemed non existent. We would have backups failing and help was not existent.

Veeam on the other hand has been the complete opposite. Always helpful and their support representatives are knowledgeable

If there is any system that a user relies on and would be a pain to rebuild from scratch - Veeam Data Platform is essential. It's a no brainer to be able to restore systems and data back to a known good point in time.

I wouldnt tell anyone to not use it, I think it has a usecase even at home.
