Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Veeam Backup and Replication to back up all of our servers, and then it replicates up to the cloud in Azure. Veeam integrates with Nutanix AHV, which we use to manage our VMs. If we ever have an issue, we know we can easily restore our servers using Veeam.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Veeam's interface is very user friendly.
Manages and restores backups easily.
Integrates with other products/application such as Nutanix.
Able to replicate backups to Azure or other cloud services.

Cons

We've had an issue with backups failing due to a password change on the account that's logging in to Veeam. The error message you receive when this happens isn't very clear.

Return on Investment

Veeam saves us time by not having to physically go to our server room and change out tapes daily.
Veeam makes human mistakes less likely since it doesn't require us to change out tapes daily like our previous backup method.

Our company uses Veeam to back up around 20 or more servers. We used to use tape backups, and it left more room for user errors if we didn't change the tape out for the next evening's backup. Since we do have so many servers, Veeam has been much easier to manage.
