Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used to use Veeam Data Platform to backup our critical infrastructure like servers and VMs. It is a great tool if you have plenty of on prem storage. I'm sure it has a lot of great features if you either have someone on staff who knows it inside and out but if you work for a smaller company like me and wear many hats in your job it's harder to know if you are using it to its full potential. We ended up switching to an alternative cloud based back up product as it seems to be more intuitive.

Backups are easy to setup
Policies are simple to assign
Recovery is easily accessible

Cons

Lots of tools but not very intuitive to set up
Couldn't figure out immutable backups
Updating to newer version is kind of a chore

It's a great option if you have the time to figure it all out and get it setup properly. It's not very expensive and is a good solution for backups and data retention. If you don't have a ton of data you need to backup or potentially restore you'd probably be better off with a cloud based service.
