Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam primarily for backing up our legacy on-premise VMware cluster.

It provides us with means to generate cloud, local and tape backups to support different restoration and retention requirements.

Pros

  • Ease of use
  • Reliability
  • Broad feature availability, without basic features being locked behind licensing

Cons

  • Native Scale HC3 support
  • Moving full tape licensing from Enterprise -> lower licensing brackets

  • Extremely high ROI. We did not have the same positive ratio when working with other vendors in the past.
Veeam + a CloudConnect repository + tape drive provides on-premise, cloud & offline backups with a relatively small investment. The fact that it can do ad-hoc backups from fileshares on top of that is a plus.
