Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam Backup & Replication v11 to back up all of our data in AWS. We store backups in S3 buckets or Glacier for archiving. It was pretty easy to set up and the restoration process so far as gone quickly and without issue. We are not using Veeam to back up any local data at this time. We are only using it for AWS EC2 instances and EBS volumes.

Pros

  • Easy to set up and use
  • Easy and straightforward recovery
  • Good customer support

Cons

  • Some of their documentation is hard to follow
  • More explanation on advanced features
  • More automation
  • Veeam has been a very affordable backup solution
  • Licensing is cheaper than many competitors
In my opinion, Veeam is MUCH easier to use and more reliable than Acronis. In a previous position, Acronis was our backup solution and there were nothing but problems keeping the backup agents online and recoveries were always a mess. Veeam is much more reliable and I feel much more confident when a restoration is needed.

I have only used Veaam Backup & Replication v11 within AWS and specifically EC2. We have used it for almost a year now (including the trial period) and it has been able to handle what we needed for simple backup and restore. The pricing is surprisingly affordable for licensing. I would recommend it for managing EC2 and EBS backups.
