Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform Foundation

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is our main backup and recovery system. We backup 17+ VMWare servers in whole every day and they are stored on local disk, copied to a 16-tape autoloading tape system, and then copied to a hosted off-site internet storage vendor. All of it done automatically with minor interaction needed unless there is an issue.

Cons

Upgrades across new versions could be smoother. Upgrades between different server hardware made easier and not require hours of copying old backups would be even better.
More information on all the options in the program readily available as you are trying to set up the system without having to do an internet search to find the best choice or syntax
I would really like their online repository setup to be a lot more user friendly.

Overall, positive. We have only had to use the recovery once, but it was one of those times that it was worth every penny to have it be successful.
This is difficult to answer for a backup system, because you never want to have a reason to use it, so that cost is best spent by never having to actually use the software for its intended purpose.
After all that, we're pleased with the cost of the product being commensurate with it's ability and performance.

Likelihood to Recommend

For its few faults, Veeam has been a solid system that works incredibly well in our environment. I have seen very few others that can produce better results without requiring multiple replication servers or cloud hosting costs. I have yet to find another system that better suits our system and our data in the same price range.
