Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We are currently using Veeam as a part of our nightly backup routine.

Pros

  • Sandboxing - to test updates/upgrades before implementation.
  • Instant recovery.
  • Backup speed.

Cons

  • Restoring Windows files is a single threaded process and we would prefer a multithreaded one.
  • Sharepoint restores are a little tricky.
  • Tape backup can be inconsistent.
  • Easy and fast recovery whether it is a file or a full vm.
  • Fast backup compared to traditional backup.
  • Great platform for testing.
We originally used Backup Exec in the early days of virtualization. Veeam's approach to backup was more modern in its process and cut our backup windows to a fraction of what it was. Restoring from backup was also much easier and faster and has only gotten better.
Veeam Backup and Replication is well suited for all backup needs!
