Overall Satisfaction with TriNet

We use TriNet to manage most of our HR systems. With a team of about 37 employees located in almost 20 different states, the platform helps us keep track of all the compliance, labor laws and insurance benefits for each employee in each state. As you can imagine, this could be a full-time job on its own, so it's useful to have TriNet do a lot of the legwork.

Pros

  • Keeping up-to-date on changing exempt and non-exempt requirements
  • Keeping track up up-to-date compliance laws
  • They have a really great online chat support

Cons

  • In my opinion, our onboarding experience was horrific; the specialist basically got everything wrong, and a full year later, we're still finding systems that were set up incorrectly
  • In my experience, lack of flexibility when it comes to different kinds of PTO accrual plans
  • In my experience, lack of ability to directly manage employees, for example, if a PTO plan needs to be adjusted or a new deduction set up, we have to go through a long process of paperwork and emails and whatnot to get it to work correctly
  • In my opinion, lack of transparency when it comes to taxes and other things that TriNet pays on behalf of our company
  • Getting up to speed in HR compliance
  • Providing much better benefits options than we could get on our own
There is still a lot to be desired when it comes to small companies whose structures and personnel needs might not fit into neat little boxes
The chat function is super helpful, and I do like our dedicated support contacts. However, when calling one of them directly, it's clear that oftentimes they aren't in an office setting, which is generally fine, but sometimes there is a ton of background noise and I can't hear or understand what they're telling me. And email support can be really slow.

Do you think TriNet delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with TriNet's feature set?

No

Did TriNet live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of TriNet go as expected?

No

Would you buy TriNet again?

No

I think the idea behind TriNet is a great one, but I think they got way too big too fast and have not been able to upscale accordingly. This has created a massive headache for small companies like ours who need HR support but end up spending a ton of time dealing with mistakes and limitations of TriNet's system.
