Overall Satisfaction with SAP Build

We use SAP Build the applications SAP Build Code, SAP Build Process Automations and SAP Build Work Zone, standard editions. We use these products to build Side-by-Side extension on SAP S4/HANA. And in the end expose the extensions, tasks and standard S4 tiles all together on one portal in Build Work Zone.

Pros

  • Easy to use IDE in the cloud
  • Simple way to create Workflows
  • One entry point for everything SAP

Cons

  • As it consists of different productions, integrating them could be improved
  • The documentation is not always complete
  • Vision of the Build Lobby when using different subaccounts for different purposes (Code vs Process)
  • It makes upgrading the core SAP system easier
  • Building Processes is easier for Functional Teams
  • You need less developers
The SAP Build Apps is definitely getting better, however it is still not as easy to use and complete as some other solutions. This makes it a bit harder to use for Functional Consultants for example.
SAP Build Process automation on the other hand is so easy, that everybody can build processes in it.
Compared to Mendix, we decided not to go for low code application building and in the other parts of Build, Build is stronger and better integrated with SAP. On the hand of Coding, using Build Code, gives us Joule, which understands SAP better and also have a tighter and more secure coupling with SAP services.

Building Side-by-Side Extension using SAP Build Code is getting better and better and even Joule is useful these days to help you for it.
SAP Build Process Automation is easy to model small processes, however documentation about using custom events as a starting point is severely limited.
