Overall Satisfaction with Procore

Implementation went well, but the system is so complex that it is hard to fully implement in 1 month. Especially if you are transitioning your company over. There were several aspects of the system that we did not use before using ProCore, like Cost Codes, and SOV, and Change Events. We had to not only move our current projects over, but set it up to best fit our company and merge parts of what we were doing with the various parts of ProCore.

Our implementation manager did everything he could to help with that, it just takes time and we would have preferred to have meetings after we had time to dig into sections rather than the weekly scheduled ones.
We were not using things like Cost codes and Change events prior so we had to convert our current projects over and also adjust our internal process to merge our current SOP with the components of ProCore.
ProCore has helped centralize our documents and put the various aspects of a project at our fingertips. It makes it easy for project managers to access the project information when they are on site and it allows our subs to submit their documents all in one place.

We use the system across every aspect of the project, from design to completion. Our whole company uses it and we have begun introducing our subs to it as well.

It helps track and centralize various forms and documents required throughout the project like RFI's, COI's, Change Orders, etc.

Pros

  • COI tracking. As an insurance manager, you get an email when your or your sub's insurance policies are about to expire.
  • RFIs. It is easy to create an RFI and get responses from the required people without multiple emails and extensive Excel tracking sheets.
  • Change orders. The updated change event and change order system make is easy to track in field changes and their accompanying change orders.

Cons

  • Overall financial tools are a bit convoluted. They are very robust and in that they get complicated and complex. It is easy to get lost in the steps.
  • Email notifications could use some updates. It would be nice to be able to modify the frequency the emails are sent out.
  • Lien release tracking needs to be implemented. There is currently no tracking for lien releases.
Yes, we have benefited from it.
  • Increased efficiency.
  • Saved time in tracking.
  • Increased communication between parties.
  • none
Have not used another system like this
General contractors, owners all could use ProCore on some level. It helps replace Excel tracking sheets.

It offers a great platform to track your project in one place.

As a Subcontractor, I am not sure how well it would work for you. I am with a GC company so I have no idea how well it would work for a sub.
