Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Docker for a number of small web sites for personal and client use; typically based on grav flat file CMS. These containers are deployed on cloud hosted infrastructure on physical servers and on NAS.As
a recent convert to Docker (from virtual machines) container sprawl is a
challenge, especially using nginx proxy and pihole/filtering DNS.
I registered with Portainer for test use with a personal address jzedward@hotmail.com

The 5 device 'test' license is full featured

I was using shell scripting and yml to manage deployments
I have also tried Docker Desktop but found it clumsy and annoying
Portainer was cross platform and easy to access from multiple devices
I will continue to use some shell scripts for management as I am a *nix kind of guy.

I
came across Portainer as a single point of control for multiple platforms,
and have found it has transformed my container deployment and management.
It has made management on my Synology NAS much easier as the Portainer UI and capabilities are better than the Synology UI
Use of update deployment and management has not been so extensively tested and likely requires further work from me.
