Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Feature Experimentation

We use Optimizely FX to roll out new features as well as run A/B tests. This ranges from testing customer value algorithms to making changes to intake forms. It is primarily used as an optimization tool, but we also use it to slowly roll out features that may be disrupting to users, to make sure the impact is minimal.

Pros

  • Rule decision process
  • Splitting traffic evenly
  • The user interface is straight forward

Cons

  • We had to create our own GA4 system to track variation assignments
  • The Play/Pause button can be hard to find when looking at a specific rule
  • It would be great to be able to see reports on tests without having to navigate away from the flag that it is associated with
  • It has kept us from making several 7-figure mistakes
  • By switching 2 questions on a form, we improved CVR by 35% in our highest revenue business unit
Overall usability is great. Some things can be hard to find in the interface, but once you know where they are it is very easy to use.
Optimizely FX is the only tool I've used that specifically allows for testing in the back-end. Most front end tools are great for simple tests, but there comes a time when you need to go a level deeper and that's not possible with front-end tools.

Do you think Optimizely Feature Experimentation delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Optimizely Feature Experimentation's feature set?

Yes

Did Optimizely Feature Experimentation live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Optimizely Feature Experimentation go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Optimizely Feature Experimentation again?

Yes

When running an A/B test is the best way to determine if a change should be made or not. We often do this with the Web/Edge versions of Optimizely, but there are plenty of scenarios where the change needs to happen in the code. We have used it for rollouts as well, but I usually do not recommend that.
