Overall Satisfaction with MS SharePoint / SQL

We use MS Sharepoint to store and exchange documents between our Canadian office and our European office. We use SQL Server Entreprise for our intranet development needs. We have an intranet system that covers most of all of our business processes. The extranet has been developed in C# and all of our data is stored in our SQL Server Enterprise database.

  • Improve CMS functionnality for Sharepoint Sites to exchange information on projects
  • Lower licence cost of SQL Server
  • Make if more transparent to upgrade from version to version
  • SQL server had a positive impact in our developement cause if is so well interconnected to the vs suite that it is easy to work with.
  • Increase our development speed by more than 30%
  • Allowed us to develop robust solution that would have cost more if bought and not necesarly met our needs
Easy to learn and use. Not much more can be added here. Since it's in Microsoft eco system, it's easy to find information to learn how to use Sharepoint and SQL server and it integrate very well with othe products. Making them a great solution and a cost effective one regarding usability.

Really great to exchange information and documents inside the organisation. Not so great to exchange outside the organisation with all the fake and untrusted requests out there. SQL server is really reliable and great for in house development. It integrate perfectly with the Visual Studio suite and is a very powerful database. The cost for the enterprise license is very high. Yes it's a quality product but very expensive.
