Overall Satisfaction with MobaXTerm

MobaXTerm is used by most of the development and application support team in my organization. We have installed MobaXTerm on our Windows system and it is very useful to connect to our applications which are deployed on Linux systems using SSH, SFTP, TELNET, FTP, TFTP etc. It is very easy to work with and has plenty of options to customize the experience as per ones need.

Pros

  • Launch remote seesions
  • Attach or detach tabs
  • Easy access to past sessions which are saved automatically
  • Supports password manager with encryption

Cons

  • Transferring of files can take more time
  • Heavier application compared to its competitors like Putty
  • Can seem a bit complex for first time users
  • Need to use paid version for advanced features
  • Many features are bundled in one application, saving headache of maintaining multiple applications
  • In built support for X11 forwarding enables quick resolution of any server issues using GUI
  • Launch multiple sessions using wide range of network protocols
  • Versatile tool for remote access
We have been using MobaXTerm since a long time in our organization and it is user friendly not just for the developers but also for the application support team. It provides a one stop interface for connection to applications running on remote servers using a wide range of networking protocols. We are using it highly for running applications in GUI mode using the X11 forwarding feature which makes installation of applications easy.

MobaXTerm provides an all-in-one solution which provides multiple command line interfaces and supports a wide range of connection protocols. MobaXTerm has in built X11 forwarding which is a great feature for remote execution of graphical applications. There are plenty of plugins and tools available for use and managing multiple sessions is easy due to tabbed interface.
