Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Cloud
Microsoft Defender for Cloud in our organization to protect all the resources deployed in Azure. This is default security deployed on any resource if you have in Microsoft Azure. Like example, All the SQL databases, Storage containers, key vaults, etc. are protected under it.
Pros
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud protects various resource, which is impossible or costly to protect by another vendor solutions.
- For solutions like severs, it even create logs for unsual activities like configuration changes on servers etc.
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud does a great job in logging activities like extension deployment on resources which can't be logged by any other means.
Cons
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud doesn't create good quality incidents, it often doesn't logs good evidence to investigate the incident.
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud incident get pushed into defender dashboard, which does create duplication sometimes.
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud does a great job in providing basic security protection in Cloud resources.
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud results can't be relied upon all the times.
We have some resources in AWS and none in Google cloud. Although there is option to deploy Microsoft Defender for Cloud in those, But we don't have that deployed yet.
Microsoft Defender for Cloud does help to give some of the intel which can be further investigated to create alerts. It does help to provide basic protection but it can't be relied upon. Initially, we had no visibility without Microsoft Defender for Cloud. After Microsoft Defender for Cloud, we have started using the incidents from it to investigate deeply before remediation.
We use Microsoft Defender for Cloud as an integration of Defender 365 and collect all the incident into one dashboard.
