Overall Satisfaction with Heap

We use Heap to analyze our sales funnel, and our customer journey. For the sales funnel, Heap helps us pinpoint exactly what is going on. We can look at different events, understand user behavior in the funnel, and get other useful information, such as their country of origin.

Additionally, Heap makes it easy for anyone to learn how to create great reports. The accessibility for our company makes data analysis more inclusive than doing something like having to learn SQL. It is used across the whole business (engineers, growth team, operations team).

Beyond the sales funnel, our operations team uses it to see how customers are progressing through our process, which can take several months. We're a direct to consumer legal services business, and our users need to do a ton of work on their own. That's why it's really useful to be able to have Heap track post-pay customer progress.

Pros

  • Accessibility for anyone to use the tool.
  • Ability to build useful dashboards.
  • Ability to track various stats.
  • No SQL experience needed.

Cons

  • Dashboard tool could be a bit easier to use.
  • The graphics that it outputs could be more readable.
  • Increased revenue growth.
  • Better conversion.
  • Better understanding of customer behavior.
I think that Heap is relatively intuitive compared to other tools, and some of the training is good as well. I think that Heap could give more room and encourage companies to do naming conventions, because growth companies often don't know what certain pulls or stats mean later on. Overall, though, usability is strong.
Most pages load very quickly, though sometimes it's harder when there's a lot of fields being pulled. One annoying thing that Heap does is group a bunch of lines when there is a large pull. The only way I've seen to find those lines is to export to a CSV file. This is annoying because takes you out of Heap.
None that I know of. Heap was the legacy tool, and switching costs would have been high.

There are a few appropriate uses that I can think of:
  1. Tracking sales funnel.
  2. Tracking post-pay customer progress through a process.
  3. Website traffic.
Sometimes it's harder to get super specific outputs, which is where a traditional SQL pull might be better.
