Overall Satisfaction with DbVisualizer

I am constantly running ad hoc queries across multiple database servers to assist management in making data driven decisions. I also use it to help determine how data in undocumented systems links and is stored.

Pros

  • Syntax highlighting
  • Easy to configure
  • Cross platform
  • Buffer storage in the event of accidental closure
  • Easy to customize UI
  • Display data in table
  • Display table and field layout

Cons

  • Better notifications of updates. Email in addition to popup.
  • Allowed for quick ad hoc data queries for C level to management to make timely data driven decisions.
  • Allowed for the testing and development of queries for report systems such as Argos and Cognos.
It's better than all the other products I tested.
Hands down the easiest to use and configure.

It is great for figuring out how data sets are related when no ERD was provided by the vendor. It is great for ad hoc queries. The export function is great in that many systems are remote.
